“ Josuke, stop moving!! ”
Lithe fingers wrap around the undressed arm of his taller — and much larger — best friend, scowling slightly as he jumps away from Koichi’s gentle care. Maybe if Josuke would stop fighting anyone and everyone who dare comment on his hair, he wouldn’t get into these aftercare situations Koichi was convinced Josuke hardly even appreciated at this point.
Bottle of rubbing alcohol in one hand and cotton ball in the other, his scowl softens quickly to a worried glare. Koichi could never fully comprehend why Josuke is so… volatile, when it comes to his hair. Too proud to let the behavior down, too scared to open up.
“ I know it stings, ” he punctuates with a dab of the cotton ball on an open cut, “ but I can’t just let you go around getting infected because you’re too stubborn to not fight people. ”
If only he could Crazy Diamond himself, Koichi muses as he caps the bottle of rubbing alcohol and sets the used cotton balls to the side. If only he could stop getting into petty fights, Koichi thinks as he picks up the bandages between them.
Not that I really mind taking care of my friends like this, Koichi reveals to himself, ever-so gently patching Josuke up.
“ There. ” He smiles up to Josuke, examining his handiwork with the smallest sliver of pride within.
The plain white bandages… they just don’t fit Josuke.
“ Hold on… ” He leans to the side to retrieve his backpack, fishing through blindly until his fingers happen upon a marker. Usually, Koichi would use it for the whiteboard for reminders at his lessons, but he supposes he can make an exclusive use out of it, just this once.
Uncapping the marker, Koichi positions Josuke’s arm to rest atop his knees for leverage, beginning to draw small symbols on the biggest bandage across his forearm. Stars, hearts, peace signs, and even a crudely-remembered symbol of one of Josuke’s idols, Prince.
“ Okay, NOW it looks done! ” And then it hits him, how uncharacteristic this must look to Josuke. S-h-i-t. “ I-I hope that you don’t mind…! I just, um. I thought it looked a little bland…
