concert promoter confessions
I used to go to concerts as a profession - for over 10 years. As Director of Marketing & Ticketing, I would get the show confirmations, build the concert tickets, announce to the press, make events, work the shows, make the posters, print everything, do the box office. Then COVID-19 hit and my last show worked was in March 2020. I used to feel like I was burnt out from so many concerts - I would work metal shows, hip-pop shows, edm, indie bands, singer-songwriters, rock bands, any genre! Now I feel that I’ve taken it for granted... and my career is in jeopardy. My salary was cut almost in half at the beginning of this year and it’s been very hard to get used to the pay change.
I really miss concerts, I don’t care what genre.. I just want them back. I want to be able to go to a music venue and see a crowd full of people singing along to their favorite band. Being behind the scenes, that was my favorite part of the whole thing... seeing the crowd and the bands join together in harmony.
