Treece and Terry 😂. He always gone be outside waiting for her at night, ready to get her inside safely and finding her hollering in the front yard. He’ll hold her hand while she dances in front of him then kiss her forehead.

“You look so cute, Pooh Bear. You were waiting for me?”

“I’m always waiting for you, baby.” Terry laughs at the chorus of mushy loves sounds before placing his hand on the Patrice’s hip to guide her inside. “Come inside, party queen. You and the crew are waking up the neighbors.”

I actually think he would think fraternities are lame and buying friends because he’s mean like that 😂. Erik the Omega man tracks, but I see you that, and raise you a Sigma. Walk with me. I think if he were to pledge, he’d choose something seemingly less popular and “more about the works.” I think he’d see Omega men as a bit too flashy and loud and be searching for something more tailored to what he perceives as quiet work. However, that wouldn’t stop him from being terrible lmao.

I know you kind of touched on it in the stay a while universe but when was the point during Terry and Patrice’s reunion where they realized how deeply they still loved each other/beginning to love each other again? Did they ever talk about it or was it one of those “what’s understood doesn’t have to be explained” things?

So this question has a couple different answers lol.

Patrice would say that she knew she was still in love with him was in New Orleans when he formally asked to be back in her life as her man. Which sounds crazy considering where they were emotionally by that point, but she was always caught between whether she was trying to scratch an itch or if she was feeling what she thought she was feeling.

HOWEVER, Terry knew (and was correct about) she still loved him in some capacity when there food for him at the house when he got there. Patrice shows her love through cooking. If she didn’t care for him, there would’ve barely been water available.

Terry knew he was still DEEPLY in love with Patrice the moment things were over in Shelby Springs and the grief of almost not making it out and being estranged from her was starting to gnaw at him. He always thought about her. Wondered what she was doing. Would check in on her all the time. Send her flowers anonymously just to be close. But that moment solidified that he couldn’t keep going without her knowing that he’d do anything to explain himself and at least tell her that he still loved her more than anyone else he’d ever come close to loving.

To answer your second question, they have never formally talked about it. In chapter two, Patrice tells Terry she isn’t afraid anymore. Terry having her around his parents again was another unspoken conversation. In passing they’ve told each other they never stopped loving one another, but nothing formal. Not yet 😉

On the rare chance that Patrice has to pay for dinner because Terry left his Wallet at home or something. I could see her asking him “what you gon do for this meal?” or something adjacent to be aggy 😂

“You gone give Big Mama some when we get in the car?”

“Don’t start,” Terry chuckles as he arranges used dishes and utensils around the table to assist the busboy set to do his duty once they were off into the night.

Beneath the table, Patrice rubs her foot against his leg and winks once he begins to smile. “Just a little bit of sugar. I’ll keep it between you and me, handsome.”

“You think I’m easy? You really think a $100 meal gone get me out of my clothes?”

“I don’t know,” Patrice shrugs while eyeing Terry across the table. “Maybe. Would I be right?”

Terry’s lids droop from the weight of unspoken fantasies as he smiles. “I might be. Let me see how much you tip first.”

this is a deep cut ask! but i just logged back into my account and this was the first thing i saw in my likes

with the new black panther movie coming out i had to log back into it to see how the fandom was holding up

if Erik was a pastor he’d be just like jamal bryant except the cheating actually idk maybe with the cheating too

although if Erik was a pastor i could see him being super passionate about the christian faith so much so that he follows everything to a T or at least tries to do it to a T we’re all still human

i can’t see him in any profession that he isn’t passionate about and 100% committed to

Erik would be a hell of a charismatic pastor. Huge church because he has that gift to galvanize people toward one cause. Plus, no shade, but pastoring is an easy grift. So even though it seems that he’s not part of the Christian faith, he wouldn’t have trouble convincing. He’s attractive, smart, and passionate. That’s an easy lick. He’d put his all into it for sure.

Now the cheating lmaooo. I honestly think he’d never marry just because they would want him to. He’d be a single and mingling pastor as a big fuck you to people trying to tell him who he should be.

He would be BESIDE himself because his dad doesn’t like to talk about that part of his life at all. If you ask him, he’s only ever known Wanda. But everybody and their mama (especially their mama) knows Sr.

That’s exactly why they didn’t like him. He knew it. Wanda knew it. Everybody knew it 😂

Terry’s FAVORITE thing about Patrice is how opinionated she is. He loves that she always has a thought and an opinion and very rarely just follows him or anyone. She’ll ask a question, bring in information, etc. just to get the full picture. He’s always appreciated her intelligence and loves to see it in use. Even more, he loves that she’s passed it down to Nyla. In the times she doesn’t have anything to say, he knows it’s because she trusts him to make decisions which fills him with a ton of confidence. Earning her trust is a big thing for him.

Of her quirks, he loves how silly she can get. Doing voices, making faces, cracking jokes – all of it. He can be so serious and she’s the levity that balances him out. Even if he acts like he’s not in the mood for laughs, she can pull it out of him.

Physically, her walk is gonna get him every time. He loves to watch her walk away. Especially in a pair of heels. She doesn’t even have to turn around. She already knows he’s looking at her.

Kelvin is enamored by how poised Asia is. She’s like the epitome of cool, calm, and collected while it doesn’t take much to get him all riled up. She’s unflappable and confident, but also a quiet storm people wouldn’t even assume moves through life like that. It’s inspiring and has calmed him down just a teeny tiny bit. He doesn’t say it to her, but if they ever had kids, he’d want them to take that trait from her.

His favorite quirk of hers is actually not being able to cook and not giving a damn about it. That goes back to her confidence. She didn’t attempt to lie or pretend and she’s not attempting to learn either. What she will do, however, is go in there and make something so basic and pretend it’s a 5-star meal. A sandwich and chips? She’s plating it like she’s on a cooking show and will absolutely be offended if Kelvin doesn’t pretend Gordon Ramsey himself chef’d up the meal of a lifetime.

Physically, he loves her legs. Her being mostly legs and athletic will have him thinking thoughts in the doctor’s office, pulpit, coffee shop, wherever. He loves her legs and takes any opportunity to touch them or try to get her to initiate the contact.

i just know sr and wanda were tearing that bedroom UP! on their wedding night lol 😂. i know wanda was scared as hell Sr up in there going crazy.

the people who waited till marriage are always so interesting to me as a person who had pretty open parents when it came to sex and told me i could do it if i was ready at 13 CRAZY ASF! but they could've only done their best and what they thought was right

which brings me to my next question did Sr and Wanda perpare Mel or give her any talks when she was about to get married?

did they give her a brief little conversation AT LEAST?

And then they had a son who would go on to mirror their story almost to the letter. Funny how things work 😂.

I wouldn’t consider myself a person trying to wait until marriage. It just hasn’t and will likely never happen, but I guess there are some redeemable things about waiting until you’ve found your (presumably) lifelong partner. I don’t know. Contrary to popular belief, you’ll meet a ton of active Christians who did not wait for marriage at all and preach it anyway. That’s a different conversation.

For Sr. and Wanda on Mel, much of their conversations about sex and sexuality were equal between children. Both of them got the wait speech, both of them were taught the basics of anatomy and sexual education. Kelvin just chose to do what he was gonna do. Wanda did have conversations about the function of a wife within the faith and regarding biblical teachings, but much of that went in one ear and out of the other. The “real” conversations didn’t come until after she was married and really not until Mel went on to search for her own information. She didn’t go into marriage unprepared, but she wouldn’t attribute her preparation to her mother for the most part. That was solo, secular information seeking.

i lived with my god mama and daddy for about three years back in middle school and they had a small church back then and MY GOD TEWDAY!! they were so freaky my little ears were being assaulted by the constant petting and innuendos

they weren't trying to do it on purpose it just slipped out from time to time they didn't really have any kids in their house who were old enough to read between the lines until i stayed with them lol 😂

The church people be the nastiest. Especially when you had to save yourself for marriage and now you get to just do it whenever 😂
