A speed painting I did for gamescom 2017
Why you don’t have to be an OUTSTANDING artist to create concept art?
On our grad project, aside from modeling, texturing and all the art direction stuff (indie multitasking, yaay), I was also responsible for character & prop design. What I want to say - you don’t have to be an artist or JUST artist, but you certainly have to be extra quick and creative. No one really needs pretty drawings, people need material to work with.
For the main character design I collected several stacks of pictures - one is for the mood (mostly with photos of actual dogs and friendly things) and two for the design. Then I did over 30 scetches, tested some questionable elements in an abstract environment, made a final drawing, got an approval from the team and only after all these steps I started to sculpt the high poly model in ZBrush.
Here’s the final model. As you can see, some parts are different from the concept but that’s totally fine. With less toyish legs we got much better animation, so I’m pretty happy with the result C:
Same workflow goes to our enemies. In the very beginning I thought it would be difficult to produce concepts for ‘angry machines’ but HA. I actually enjoyed it the most after I found the right approach to it. I ended up studying different mining and factory mechanisms, bringing them to life, as if I were crazy scientist LOL.
It was an amazing expirience watching your ideas coming to life.
hello! ^^ i just watched the video you linked above and it's brilliant! but is it possible to make a game in six months? or it's just a demo version? just curious!
Thanks! Well yes it's actually a full game, not THAT BIG of course (about 1 hour of gameplay). It could be done even faster but we all were working our full time jobs. So when you have nothing but ideas to start with and just evenings and weekends for an actual work, six months is barely enough.I wish we had more time 8'DD
Hi friends! As you may know I’ve been studying video game art for two years and now I can finally show you my grad project \^0^/ Our task was to make a small game powered by Unreal Engine in a 5-person team in 6 months. I was responsible for character and prop design/modeling, texturing, material setup and art direction. Since our game turned out to be rather huge (lol) I’m gonna make several posts about my workflow, wips and gameplay features.

Good news! Now I have a Sketchfab account wich means I can finally post their fancy 360° vids. Here's my entry for the ‘Meet MAT’ contest by Allegorithmic, WD2 inspired toy design.
super late and super sketchy card for Aiden’s birthday just because I can (still). this is what happens when you have just one hour for an epic picture lol

Hey friends! I’m making a small scene based on the artworks from Child of Light game in my spare time. Still kinda blockout-ish, just love how the lanterns and particle effects turned out, so sharing this WIP screenshot. Software I use for this project (if someone’s interested) : Maya, Substance Painter, Unreal Engine

My next Watch Dogs fan art is going to be pretty hilarious 🌚

Quick sketches based on the Only God Forgives movie
I know I promised to post my coursework here but my hand slipped and I’ve made an ArtStation account! Way more handy for 3D stuff than tumblr imo. It’s still under construction, but all the main things are already there.
