1. Web hunt for who got the job instead of you 2. Obsess over their qualifications 3. Spiral But really, this is a hard demon. Comparison is the thief of joy. In most of my life I know these things. At my best I can celebrate my strengths, the ones that make the unique teacher that I am. I will be an asset to the right school but they must be right for me as well. It's hard not to feel wanted, to feel like you fit, this theme runs through my early childhood and into my physical form. Trying is still important, keeping it up is still important. I don't think their will ever be a time in my life I'm not trying. Trying to keep it together, trying to take care of myself, trying to keep up my work, trying to show my work, trying to fill out the applications, trying to find my fit. I know the compassion I have comes from these struggles, comes from these sets backs and heartbreaks. Sometimes I think, I've built enough damn character! This is still important enough for me to not lose hope but it's still hard.

May one day I see myself the way those that love me do. May one day I know my strengths so greatly, my empathy personally, and my worth intimately. May I be the person my students deserve. May I be the person I deserve. May I see myself for exactly what I am and not what I'm becoming. May today be a marker of not just knowing I deserve more but demanding it for myself from myself.
