During his live Facebook video(s) earlier, Dalton had the camera pointed in a way that made only his shoulder visible for most of the time as he sang and played piano for us. I was watching the comments and most of them were just frustrating. Firstly, I’m guessing he purposefully kept his face out of the frame because people sometimes focus on his attractiveness instead of his music. He posted several videos to his YouTube channel without his face showing for what I’m assuming is the same reason. He wants us to enjoy his music. If we happen to think he’s cute, that’s a bonus.

Other than demands that he show his face, another thing I saw a lot of was people asking him to give them a shout-out. The point of streaming tonight was to play and sing songs for us, not read comments and respond to them. (Sorry, song requesters.) Even if it had been q&a time, shout-outs are a dumb thing to ask for. I get that you want senpai to notice you and say your name, but if he tried to give everyone the shout-outs they want, he’d end up doing a video of nothing but saying hi to a thousand people. That’s not fun for anyone. If you want him to say something to you, try asking an interesting question or something (during a video when he’s actually reading the comments). What’s he supposed to say in response to a bunch of heart emojis?

On the topic of song requests, did people actually think he was reading the thousands of comments we were posting *while* playing the piano and singing? Have you ever tried to play something on the piano while singing along and also focusing on something else? That would be freaking hard. I have enough trouble just playing and singing without messing either up. Also, have you ever tried playing a song by ear? For at least some of the songs he played, I think he had sheet music. As cool as it would be to have the ability to instantly play whatever song some random girl asks for, chances are he doesn’t play by ear. Not many people can. And another thing about requests: stop asking him to sing 5SOS songs!!! He’s said before (link) that he doesn’t really do that type of music. He’s not Michael, nor is he a jukebox that you can force to sing/play any song you please.

I just don’t understand the logic (or lack thereof) of some people.

Kiva Rapattoni Last stop in NY was the Children’s Hospital. So happy we were invited to come. My favorite thing about Dalton being there with the kids is seeing a genuine smile on HIS face. It was a treat for us!! Thank you New York Presbyterian Children’s Hospital!

Okay so La'Porsha cries on stage and she’s brave, but Dalton cries on stage and he’s just emo and needs to get over it??? Wowwwwwwww society needs to change it’s perspective. It’s kinda dumb how guys “shouldn’t be emotional” and I think we all need to take step back for a minute and realize that we all have complex emotions and regardless of your gender you should be able to share them with the rest of the world, mmkay? Music makes you feel things, and there’s nothing wrong with that. This stupid double standard we have needs to stop. The lyrics in Bird Set Free meant a lot to him because music has been an important part in him dealing with his bipolar disorder and that’s perfectly understandable if it’s going to hit home for you and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. The fact that he’s getting so much crap for it is just pissing me off because La'Porsha was praised for her bravery and pure emotion when she sang a song that related to her struggles and cried onstage and if she were a guy that would have been a totally different story. Just because Dalton is a male and he almost cried on stage he’s getting crap for it because for some stupid reason it’s still socially unacceptable for guys to get emotional in public.
