               it  wasn’t  as  if  rachel  often  got  to  eat  in  peace .  typically  she’d  eat  up  on  moonbase ,  and  while  people  have  slowly  gotten  better  at  not  bothering  her  that  didn’t  mean  she  wasn’t  constantly  being  bombarded  with  autograph  requests  and  questions  about  this  or  that .  so ,  the  rare  occasion  she  actually  got  to  eat  on  earth  at  some  unknown  place ---  far  away  from  anyone  that  knew  her ---  was  a  treat .

               that’s  why ,  the  second  she  saw  another  kid  approaching  the  table  she  was  sitting  at ,  she  reflexively  tenses  up .  maybe  she  SHOULDN’T  have  worn  her  typical  gear  out  today .  she  supposes  the  helmet  was  pretty  recognizable . . .  but  it’s  entirely  possible  this  girl  didn’t  know  about  the  kids  next  door .  stay  positive ,  rachel !  no  need  to  get  discouraged  just  yet .

               she  lowers  her  burger ,  raising  her  eyes  to  the  stranger  and  giving  a  quizzical  look .  ‶  can  i  help  you ?  ″

              it  wasn’t  often  the  supreme  leader  visited  a  treehouse  personally ,  but  today  was  a  bit  of  an  special  case .  and ,  if  there  was  one  sector  that  she  had  a  slight  bias  for . . .  it  would  be  sector v .  despite  their  constant  screw  ups  they  did  show  themselves  to  be  competent  and  overall  able  to  handle  themselves  in  high  stress  situations .  considering  they  battled  some  of  their  most  fearsome  enemies  on  a  consistent  basis ,  it  was  perfectly  reasonable  to  entrust  them  with  important  tasks .

              however ,  walking  into  their  meeting  room  there  seemed  to  be  a  distinct . . .  lack  of  people .  don’t  tell  her  that  they’re  not  HERE !  her  eyes  scan  over  the  room  before  landing  on  the  one ,  remaining  member  of  sector v .  ‶  numbuh  four ,  where  is  the  rest  of  your  team ?  it’s  an  emergency .  ″

               ‶  numbuh  three ,  i’m  glad  you  could  join  me .  ″  rachel  offers  the  other  girl  a  smile ,  gesturing  towards  the  cafeteria .  this  was  going  to  be  a  difficult  conversation  to  have ,  but  it  certainly  needed  to  be  done .  and  soon .  ‶  do  you  want  to  grab  a  bite  to  eat ?  we  may  be  talking  for  a  while .  ---  and  don’t  worry ,  you’re  not  in  trouble .  ″  she  hadn’t  yet  told  the  other  why  she  called  her  up  here ,  but  she  figured  it  would  be  better  to  go  over  EVERYTHING  in  person .
