“Every word has consequences. Every silence, too.”
— Jean-Paul Sartre
“It sucks that we miss people like that. You think you’ve accepted that someone is out of your life, that you’ve grieved and it’s over, and then bam. One little thing, and you feel like you’ve lost that person all over again.”
— Rachel Hawkins; Demonglass

Being with someone who wants to learn about your past history, not to punish or hurt you, but to learn how you need to be loved

You will never be able to escape from your heart. So it’s better to listen to what it has to say.
Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
“We sleep to forget but they visit our dreams.”
“We think that forgiveness is weakness, but it’s absolutely not; it takes a very strong person to forgive.”
— T.D. Jakes
there is something so frustrating about it, because it's cliche, but. you really do feel like there's just a hole in you. something missing. like life just whistles right through, never quite touching any heart in you.
are you happy? sure. you're probably happy, smile about it. it's just... happy like smeared icing; happy like leftovers. you are happy around the hole, never happy full-up.
are you sad? that's the good news - if you are sad, it's nowhere you can feel it. life just washes over your ribs and you wake up crying without reason. when you touch your wet cheeks, you feel kind of silly about it, the drama you've met. you say - huh. this is weird. i'm honestly not even really upset.
like life happening to a puppet. like remembering agony in a dream. oh, you should probably be worried. it's not good to not feel anything. you know that logically.
but you're so very numb - you watch the little alarm rise in your chest, a warning. you find yourself laughing. uh oh. you say. i think something is burning.
The older you get, the more you choose calm over chaos and distance over disrespect. Drama becomes intolerable to you and your peace becomes your ultimate priority. You start surrounding yourself with people who are good for your mental health, heart and soul.
“Nobody looks good in their darkest hours. But it’s those hours that make us what we are.”
— Karen Marie Moning, Faefever
“Home isn’t where you’re from, it’s where you find light when all grows dark.”
— Pierce Brown, Golden Son
Maturity is healing and unlearning your own toxic patterns, so you don't unconsciously pass your pain onto people who didn't hurt you.
The broken will always be able to love harder than most. Once you've been in the dark, you learn to appreciate everything that shines.

“I used to dislike being sensitive. I thought it made me weak. But take away that single trait, and you take away the very essence of who I am. You take away my conscience, my ability to empathize, my intuition, my creativity, my deep appreciation for the little things, my vivid inner life, my deep awareness of others’ pain, and my passion for it all.”
