With China no longer accepting Australia’s mixed recyclables, local waste management facilities around the country are stockpiling recyclables while a solution is sought. The installation is built from 5 weeks of Albury’s hard plastics sorted by residents at their local recycling center, equaling approximately 20 tons of waste. The plastics are crushed into brick like bales, made up predominantly of kids toys, outdoor furniture, car bumpers, crates & boxes. These bales provide an intimate insight into people’s once loved possessions.
