Raze had never really understood the point of Halloween no matter how many times it was explained to him, so he’d decided that instead of sitting around at home and trying to get over the sound of children repeatedly ringing his doorbell ( as much as he loved human kids, the fact that so many people were coming to see him was a little disconcerting, even if he knew why ), he’d pack up the drum set he’d bought a few weeks ago after seeing that street musician play and haul them down to a separate but similar area.
It seemed that no one had just been “being nice” when they told Raze he had skill— many people were stopping here and there to listen to his playing, and after being handed a plastic bucket and told that he should be collecting donations for his entertainment he had allowed other humans to toss in some money. After all, his credits wouldn’t last forever, and he was trying to save at least some for when he got back home.
He grinned as he met eyes ( sort of ) with the somewhat squinty-eyed boy in front of him; similar to him, the kid’s eyes seemed to be just a bit wider than they were tall, possibly speaking of Asian origins, though of course Raze had never been to Asia.
❝ thanks !
no, i don’t play professionally, but i get asked that a lot. i don’t really know how to get into the music business here. i mean, it’s kind of complicated and not something i really understand.
my name’s raze—- what’s yours ? ❞
“Really? Huh. Could’a fooled me.” Honestly, he could have, but it wasn’t as though street performers were terribly uncommon, and even if not all of them were as good as this guy--that cellist down on 73rd could stand some tuning--they were just a universal constant. Normal amidst the abnormal, and all that jazz.
He really needed to step away from those analogies. It’d been what, almost a year now? Get it together, Leonardo.
“Me? Oh, it’s Leo. Nice t’meetcha.” Friendly faces were a rarity to find, right off the bat, but for what it was worth, Leo tended to have pretty good luck on that end. More luck than he would have normally admitted to, but whatever.
His smile stayed put a moment longer, before sliding into a confused frown, head tilt and all. There was... something slightly off, about this guy, and not just from the friendliness. Someone in his aura he couldn’t quite pinpoint, something human, but not human; even with his eyes closed, it was hard for Leo not to really notice. “You mind if I ask what brought you out toight? Er, I mean--not that there’s anything wrong with it, but, y’know. People can get kinda rowdy on Halloween, bar hopping and all that. And the cold, too.” Well, mostly cold, really, but that was just him.
