{laughing emoji} I have always had a huge crush on Conan since i was 10 till now
k so i’m working on this theory that a band can be so completely uncool that they ironically become cool later. Sugar Ray is one of those bands in my opinion and maybe even other notoriously “lame” bands like Nickleback, Creed and maybe even a band like Switchfoot. I’m sure there’s others but i’m still thinking. Its a paradox. Its absurd. Its silly. whatevs
"Eat at a local restaurant tonight. Get the cream sauce. Have a cold pint at 4 o'clock in a mostly empty bar. Go somewhere you've never been. Listen to someone you think may have nothing in common with you. Order the steak rare. Eat an oyster. Have a negroni. Have two. Be open to a world where you may not understand or agree with the person next to you, but have a drink with them anyways. Eat slowly. Tip your server. Check in on your friends. Check in on yourself. Enjoy the ride."
Anthony Bourdain.
They kinda sound like Art Brut
Gonna listen to this for the 1000th time again.
Are you Kidding? I finally got a chance to listen to this whole album so good especially while staring at the moon and stars. Kinda sounds like Broken Social Scene a little.
Why does it sound like Ian doing covers of his own songs lol
& You can’t even talk about dream pop without referencing this song.
Passing through Times Square by Mareen Fischinger
I remember this picture was so inspiring to me and now I've taken many like it since. Everything you want can happen for you if you work hard and do the right things
I used to hate this song and now I love it.
Remember this one? Cannot believe this is over 16 years old now. “Age” doesn’t seem to matter on the internet. Its seems to me modernity of music, art, fashion, culture etc. is not bound by the constrictions of time the way it was thought of in the past. Any and everything can be defined as “Modern” because of the internet. What’s “Modern” is whatever is being listened to and appreciated currently by a group of people in the current year or decade and because of the internet its apparent every subject, every artist, every genre of film, every art form, etc. is being appreciated currently everyday by some group, somewhere. There’s also not just one source of authority anymore in many areas for example Vogue used to be the authority for womens fashion now many people just wear whatever crappy outfit they want and don’t care what Vogue says. Anyone with a phone can spread their ideas and find a group to listen if they pay for advertising or develop a large enough following. Good for self expression, bad because its just a free for all out here. I like the freedom of the current times but I like some standards, to be influenced a little. What’s cool whats not cool isn’t even able to be answered anymore because the general consensus is “its cool to do and wear and be whatever you want” which I disagree with. A world without rules leads to chaos, the definition of the world we live in at the moment. We need some kind of authority, we weren’t created to have unlimited freedom. A friendly authority.
Sometimes I wish I was born in 1959 so I could have been in my early 20′s in 1979 when some of the greatest music ever made was being performed but pretty great music is being made and performed now too so I guess its cool, I always thought I’d croak at 25 you know live fast die young and all that but I’m still here alive and kickin’ in my early 30′s living in 2024 #megablessed What will do with all this future?...
“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this.”
— Henry David Thoreau, Journals
one of the greatest tragedies in life is that you will always be loved more than you will ever know. someone in class finds your presence inviting and warm, even if you’ve only ever exchanged a few words with them—maybe none at all. someone on the street loves your smile and it gets them down the next few streets. someone you used to be friends with still wishes to fondly call your name. someone you used to be friends with five years ago would give anything to be in the same room as you today. someone who regularly comes into work is disappointed when you aren’t there to brighten their day. someone missed you today. someone noticed you were gone. someone loves you when you’re there; someone loves you when you’re nowhere to be found at all. you think you have always disappeared when you’re no longer in the picture, but you’ve never left the frame.
