I don't feel good. At all. Think I'm probably getting sick and will be heading home after babysitting. Try not to be jealous. Maybe one day soon I'll post something fun.
“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.”
Neil Gaiman (via light-essence)
Happy 2012!

THIS. So much this. I cannot wait to create an incredible 2012.
Counting Crows - A Long December
obligatory end of december post
And it’s been a long December and there’s reason to believe Maybe this year will be better than the last I can’t remember all the times I tried to tell myself To hold onto these moments as they pass

I wish you not a happy new year, but an enviable new year. A year of confidence, success, and gall. A year of triumph and change, of love and joy. And may this year be the best year yet.

late 2011 updates.
It's been quite a year and one that I am not too terribly disappointed to put behind me. I'm happy to report that Christmas 2011 was fantastic for both Charlie and I as my momma spoiled us both just short of rotten! In the mix (for me) was new Chanel make up, a really cute Marc Jacobs iPad case, and a replacement David Yurman bracelet for the one I lost this summer. Charles was quite thrilled with two cans of fresh tennis balls and a marrow bone from the butcher, like most men, he's easy to please.
Night nursing for an infant has really been taking it out of me and it's a rather odd thing to have your days and nights wholly flip flopped Mon - Thurs then try to readjust every weekend. Today, for example, I slept from 8am to 5:45pm before beginning my "day." I've found that more than anything the thing that is keeping me balanced is my nightly trips to the gym before work. I'm hoping that this cold rainy stuff we've got going on finishes off soon so that I can resume running outside...
Which brings me to a VERY exciting announcement. I've re-registered for a full marathon (YAY!) and officially begin training just after the first of the year. The race that I have chosen is the (newly renamed) St. Jude Country Music Marathon in Nashville, TN this April. Beyond having an official race date, hotel reservations, and a friend to join me the most exciting part is that I will be participating as a St. Jude Hero. As a Hero I will be working over the coming months to raise over $1400 to fun research, patient care, and more at St. Jude. Having run the St. Jude Memphis 1/2 marathon and seen all of those kiddos' faces it was an easy decision for me and I readily accept the challenge of both the fundraising and training.
RIP my sweet Ellebaby. Love you.
My heart goes out to a dear friend who lost her most constant best friend.
So here we go bluebird
Gather your strength and rise up
Oh let him go bluebird...

I'm not usually one for promoting much of anything... but these guys? Are amazing. A good friend of mine's brother is so close to realizing his goal of releasing their first EP and need pre-order support. These guys have a gift and a soulfulness that comes from the heart. Watch the video, check out their website, have a listen... and if you like it? Pre-order the record and reblog this so others can have a chance to check them out as well. You don't want to miss out, trust me.

coming back down from the mountain
Monday Check-In...
Obsessing over: Pinterest. I'm totally late to this trend but now that I'm working as a baby nurse doing overnights for a new family and there aren't many people on gchat at 3am. Between that and the ability to order any movie on demand I'm staying awake. And sane. Mostly. ;)
Working on: Getting back into a training groove now that I'm as close to fully recovered from my stress fracture as I'll be for a while. This last weekend was the 1 year anniversary of running Memphis & also breaking my finger. I felt like a pretty lazy bum thinking about the amount I was running last year compared to now.
Anticipating: My next trip west.
Listening to: Right now? The Sing Off Holiday Special. Guilty pleasure, for sure.
Drinking: Water. Lots of water. I've been allowing diet coke to come in and all of a sudden realized I was back to more than three a day and that is just not okay with me. That and I drank ALL THE WINE in Denver so water is a good choice all the way around.
Wishing: Upon a star... I'll keep this one to myself.
happy thanksgiving y'all
i'm thankful to be spending mine with good friends in the mountains.
one of those days.
Me (tweet): Kiddos down for the count. New Jodi Picoult movie on Lifetime. Pretty rocking Friday night babysitting...
EC (text): And please fix your tweet. It's Saturday night! Hahahhahaa
Me (text): Oh lord.
EC (text): Just one of those days.
Me (text): Yup.
Me (tweet): Correction. Friday night. Sorry twitter police aka @eclote
EC (text): Hahahaha it still says Friday on your correction marge. I am the twitter police. haha You don't need to fix it. You need to get a glass of wine.
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
Ralph Waldo Emerson (via femmerun)
This was one of the readings at my Nana's services... THIS. This is truly the good stuff and she was all of it. In some ways it has been so long. In others she was patting my hand just moments ago and telling me my most recent story was "a bit much." Just a reminder today that she's gone but very much still with me. Love and miss you, AQS. So much.
GPOY: Hat hat, steel toes, and looking awesome edition.
