Once, a guy who used to ask me to write him poetry and did recreational coke told me he didn’t think I was funny in front of a group of his friends. He spent the rest of the night fastened to my hip while nursing a beer and I wondered why men become more attracted once they humiliate you. We stopped being friends years ago but now and again he still sends me text messages asking how I am. And every time I answer I wonder why I still try to make him laugh.

“I believe that one can never leave home. I believe that one carries the shadows, the dreams, the fears and dragons of home under one’s skin, at the extreme corners of ones eyes and possible in the gristle of the ear lobe.”

“And if there’s something that I’ve learned this year, it’s this: When you truly love something, you choose it over anything else. No matter what the world will say to make you look the other way you choose it and you choose it ferociously. And then you see where life will take you from there.”
— Juansen Dizon, The Year of Love
“Some people hate the thought of being alone. I’m not like that. I love my solitude. I’m kind to myself. My feelings don’t get hurt. My energy’s not leeched. And it’s very peaceful.”
