off to the races

I've decided to move to Japan. There's nothing wrong with Korea, obviously, but I came here running away from problems there and I'm going to do the same to this place. And truth be told, I'm running from a lot of things here. I came here looking for happiness and freedom, which I got. However, now I'm broken and willing to close this chapter of my life. I had fun and adventure and more friends than I've had in a while. I've also fallen in love and I have more feelings than my little heart can contain. I care about everyone deeply but that care and love is driving me crazy and now I need to run away. I see why people need to be alone sometimes now and I need that, to be alone and away and maybe kick start my career. This isn't really a good bye-- at least I hope not--it's more of a see you later. Perhaps to anyone else it would have been bizarre, but to him it was a necessity to keep his club life way separate from his real life, and thus his Rae persona had developed—granted, it too was the nickname his friends had given him and he’d stuck by even outside the party scene he no longer frequented, he made it a habit to never share his birth given name to any of those people.

And then there was Yixing, with his dimple smile and natural chuckles as he’d laughed at every one of Larry’s lame attempts at pickup lines. He’d introduced himself as Larry Kim, and the only time ‘Rae’ was mentioned was when the bartender had recognized him as he offered to buy his new companion a drink.

A smile lit up his face instantly as the familiar face easily recalled his name, and if he were a puppy his tail would’ve been wagging embarrassingly right about now. Instead he kept his cool, and nodded. “You remember. That’s me exactly, Yixing—though, it’s not too impressive that I remember your name when you have a name tag, but it’s fair to say I’m pleasantly surprised to see you here..” He looked around the café, his own snort filling his pause. It was a sweet sort of place, and he couldn’t help but think it was befitting of the other. 

"It’s really nice to see you, though," Larry added with a genuine smile, leaning against the counter as he admired the coffee art.

Seeing people out of the club seen was awkward for Yixing to say the least. He has had a couple encounters with other faceless one night companions who he didn't even remember the names of. However, by some miracle, they always remembered his or at least they'd remember his nickname, Lay. That's probably why he took a job at Sweet Memories because no one in the club scene would come into a place as cute as the cafe. Most of the revenue came from high school couples, teenage girls, and new couples that liked the thought of locking their love on Namsan Tower and blanket fort dates. Most of which weren't the people that were at the clubs at night and even if they were, Yixing usually didn't work when they had the time to roll in while nursing their hangovers.

Larry, however, was someone that Yixing was glad that he had remembered, even if the other only remembered his name by the name tag. It was still a pleasant surprise and at least Larry remembered his face.

After giving his own greeting, he looked back down at his design, finishing off the flower in Hello Kitty's hair before giving it to a waiter to take it to the customer. Yixing looked up again with a small smile, wiping up his hands on his apron, "it's a pleasant surprise to see someone from the club scene actually go here." He chuckled softly, "besides you're name is not that hard to remember when I have to work with all of these people," he gestured to his fellow co workers who were laughing near the registers.

"It's nice to see you too, you should come here more often so I can see you more."
