A poem i wrote, not the best, but its emotion. It gets louder at night; it gets louder when I’m alone, It gets louder when I’m laughing with friends, but it’s the loudest when I’m happiest. Because what is happiness without you? What does any of it mean without you? We were supposed to love together, Live together, breathe together, Worship together. I trusted you, I lived with you, I worshipped you, But I don’t know what you lived for, I thought I once knew, For love, For stability, What were you fighting for? The beast came at night, Its face didn’t look so menacing, But it didn’t have to, It had kind words; it knew how to conceal its true nature from the world But not from you, You saw its truth, You saw the truth in its lies, The truth in its eyes, The truth in its actions, even when those actions seemed good, What were you fighting for? You told me the tale of a hero, But to you, that tale looked more like that of someone who lost, Was it that you knew? The battle was over, The war was won, But you didn’t act like a winner Was it that you knew? You gave into the lies, Its eyes, That silver tongue, The tongue that not only told you lies about yourself, But made you believe them The tongue that you said hurt you, Broke you, Destroyed you, What were you fighting for? In the end, you did lose, but you chose to, what were you fighting for?
