Yob are a new love of mine. Great long, atmosphere laden doom songs with enough variety to keep things interesting and progressing. I would have liked to be in Seattle (tonight?) watching them play with Neurosis and Sumac, but that sold out before I knew it was even happening. I spent all my dough at Red Fang, Torche, and Whores instead.

More Indian. This track kicked my ass when I first heard it. I kept coming back. Now I'm addicted. The vocals are surprisingly catchy especially during the second half. The vocal performance is so good on this whole album. Great blackened guitar leads over crushing sludge rhythm guitar all topped with piercing noise textures. Wish I didn't miss seeing them live. If anyone has Indian lyric sheets, they are impossibile to find online. Send them my way? I plan to give transcription a shot at some point. If this interests you let me know.

I know nothing about this band. This was recommended so I'm posting here for safe keeping. Sounds melodic, black and very crusty. Maybe a little too controlled for my liking. More listens will tell I guess. Reminds me of From Ashes Rise and Disfear a little. The tempo fluctuations are good because this song feels super long.

Cough pops up in my recommended vids all the time. I can't say I've spent much time with them. From at one time living in the city they formed in I remember seeing Ritual Abuse in all the stores. About time I gave it all a listen. This at least is super melodic, minor key, and funereal. A bit like a dirtier sludgier Pallbearer. The keyboard is interesting. They did a split with Windhand who are great and I guess that fits pretty well.

I was led to Lord Mantis through Indian's shared members in the most recent incarnation. I haven't digested this full ep yet but based on this first track will be diving into it soon. Dylan's vocals are great and basically Indian style, which I love. The heavier black metal influence is cool and less crushing, more energizing than Indian. I hope the rest of their material is similar. The anatomical and sexual themes are gross and intriguing. No word yet on what wil become of these guys after Bill's death but if I recall they have already survived numerous lineup changes.
