um i think we went to brunch
Did we?
I've been getting into snapchat a lot lately and this is a little story I made today about forgetting my keys... It gets less and less funny the more I watch it but at some point I thought it was amusing. Anywayzz am looking forward to half term in a few weeks woooo
We can start with some boring pics I took around campus
Hellurrrr
I stopped using this blog once I moved in with my sister because it would be weird to complain online about our fights, where she could see and get even more mad.
But then, she gave me the idea that instead of bitching about living arrangements, I should let this blog evolve along with my life. So more relevant to me now would be to share the cool things I see/do/like around Montreal and every where else, on those few days I leave my house.
Soooo now that I have been enlightened with new purpose, that's what you can expect here from now on.
Existential crisis in 3..2..1… 20 candles on that cake 😩 #artsy
Waaaaht this blog just turned 1... wowwww
I finished my first year of college, and i'm nearly half way done with my second.. I tried to get my driver's license and took a chinese language course over the summer, and have nothing to show for either of those things.
I live with my sister now, and my room is much bigger. I no longer take public transport to get to class, and there will be no Asian food cooked in this kitchen under my watch. 100% improvements so far.
We're also fostering two kittens–Baltasar & Figaro (my names)–and they're so cute it's almost too much. It's appropriate too because I'm about to turn 20 and am having a big crisis over the fact.. the cats at least will keep me company on my impending solitary death bed. I was talking to my sister about my crisis the other day and some random guy on the street turned around and said "I know this is gonna sound cheesy but, you need to align your chakras and not let any of that demonic shit deviate you from your path." I was just thinking like, Yeah so cheesy, I get that all the time.. that advice is old, dude. Ugh
Anywayss that was the update... it's getting really cold and I don't know how the heating works, and I'm looking forward to holidaysss
I hate China 😩😩💩💩💩

10 Days!!
My first year of college is finishing in 10 days... How crazy is that? In 10 days I'll have 30 more credits on my transcript, 8 months of roommate-living behind me, new tolerance levels for mac and cheese, and a room repacked up into three suitcases ready to leave.
Crayyyyy... especially to think that a year on, I'm still useless at life (cooking? cleaning? responsible money spending? what?)
Interrupting the complaining nature of this blog because I just had the bessstttttt week in New York.
Let Me Paint You a Picture
The term is almost over, only 6 weeks to go. So I thought I'd give a run down of what my first few weeks in Rez were like. Looking back on it, and retelling some of these stories, I'm incredibly impressed with myself for having survived with as little scarring as I have. And here is a disclaimer: the experience has not made me more tolerant or accepting. Rather, it has opened my eyes to some of the crazy out there in the world, and has given me ambition and drive in finding a new apartment for next year. Having established that I haven't become a better human being because of these experiences, let's move right along.
1) For the first 2 months, we didn't have a microwave because hobo #2 said the radiation was really bad for you. So for two months I had to use the microwave in the basement of the building every time I wanted to heat anything up/make my mac and cheese. That's until hobo #1 was given a microwave by her parents for her 18th birthday present. So this girl got the world's worst birthday present, hobo #2 has to put up with higher exposure to radiation, but at least now we have a microwave.
2) Recycling. I don't recycle, it's not my thing, I don't like dividing trash into five different subsets of more trash. But sure, put the cans somewhere and bottles somewhere else. But there's a line, and that line is compost. These hobos put a compost bin next to the stove, and threw in all their leftovers in there everyday. That thing had flies, and it smelled so bad, and the flies were buzzing around everywhere... it was disgusting. And then they kept trying to make ME empty it–a process which involved leaving the premises in search of the main compost disposal bin–no thank you. I wasn't using the compost bin, I certainly wasn't going to be the one to get rid of their rotting, fly-ridden, half-eaten, chicken wings. That was a source of tension in our relationship.
3) There's more to come.
So sure, there's the odd stabbing every now and then in this druggie neighborhood of mine, but it was all fun and games until I looked outside my window this morning. Asma'u recommended I gaze again with this soundtrack playing, and wow. If this scene wasn't creepy before, it just turned morbid. Trees in baby clothes can be found a little to the right. who is the sick mind that did this? And why so close to my bedroom?
Also a lot of snow. Sigh, so much fun times to be had in Canada.
So ridiculously homesick. This is not where I want to be right now.
Also this girl has gotten comfortable in my absence; too bad that's over.
Payback for my roommates playing K-Pop on full blast the whole day is to straighten my hair with a blowdryer at 8 AM with the door open.
Also there was a stabbing outside my residence last week after a "drug-deal-gone-wrong". My days on this earth may be numbered..
Workshop: Fat-Phobia 101.
There's been less to post about recently because the new situation with my roommates is that we don't talk or interact with each other in any way. This is easy and pleasant enough to do; I don't eat with them, say hi or bye, and generally pretend (*wishful think*) they're not there.
The problem is that I share a wall with one of them–the stupidest one–and it is paper-thin. And she is so LOUD. I can identify all 9 Cantonese tones during her daily, very-long, Skype calls to her mother. I also hear her practicing French (it is an execution of the once beautiful language that no one should ever have to presence). More things that nobody deserves to bear: this girl singing. Omg why does she sing? To say it sounds like a dying cat would be an understatement. It's more like... a hoarse version of this goat. It's funny because the two share an uncanny resemblance in terms of facial features too.
The other day both of them stayed up to watch the olympics. At like 2:00am, I hear this girl start talking so loudly. She was so excited/nervous to be up so late. Literally she could barely contain her emotions and she was basically screaming. Eventually the other girl had to try shush her and tell her to calm down, I guess because it dawned on her that other people might be sleeping. And then, "Ohhhh My God Ohhh My God! Hoooolyyyyy... I can't sleep right now! I need to have a shower, I'm too emotional... I can't sleep right now Ommmmmggggg".
I estimate 3217549832 hours passed before there was finally silence on the other side of the wall. The next day, she told like 5 different people "Omg, guess what time I went to sleep last night... it was like, so late!!".
Ugh. #fml. On the bright side, less than 3 months to go!! And Switzerland in 3 weeks!! :') Yayayayy
Stop singing I can hear u through the wall
