Petrified Wood | Bagan, Myanmar

Found these beautiful samples within a 20’ radius, just off the dirt road which leads to our hotel. Myanmar earth is just loaded with the stuff. Chris & I dug up countless varieties of grains & colors, even found petrified stumps. One of the most diverse geologic regions I’ve explored yet. Beyond cool.

Asian Giant Forest Scorpion (Heterometrus spinifer)

I found this crispy little fella sitting in the dirt while hunting for petrified wood by our hotel. I wrapped him up in paper and carefully transported him in my sunglasses case–managed to get him back to Oman in one piece, and not confiscated at the airport, (among other items collected in the Bagan plains.)
