I don’t want you to feel bad for me, but - I’ve done the for better or for worse part. I stuck by her through hell, and back, until she took a kitchen knife and stabbed me four times, and left me there. I think that covers the until death do you part nit bit of it. And I get that I didn’t handle things correctly. I agree with that, and that’s all I can really say about it.

A subtle breeze cooled her shoulders, just brushing the thin strap of her dress loose, and for a moment she wished she’d worn a bra with more padding, rather than simply the thin lace of the bralette she now donned – then, as she spared a quick glance at herself on her way to the table, carrying the last item to set, wished she’d dressed up a bit more. Maybe in something that pushed her breasts up, for a better show of cleavage than she had right then, or showed off her waistline. Something sexier than the summer dress she now had on, even if she had nothing to prove: after all, this was a man she’d been with for what felt like a lifetime, as there’d never been anyone else; nor would there ever be.

And yet, even as she thought of this, between glancing over the table setting and going around to light the candles or straighten the rolled silverware, she knew she never wanted to lose that initial spark that’d set her heart aflutter all those years ago – a lifetime away, and a lifetime more left. Therefore, as much as she enjoyed the sweatpants wearing thin from years of wear and tear upstairs in her bottom drawer, she also enjoyed getting dressed up, if only for the beauty she so felt reflected in his eyes. Though the idea to wait a few minutes longer for herself to change into something obviously more sensual was tempting, with another quick visual sweep of the table, confirming their dinner was ready, Paige nodded to herself and pulled that strap up in place on her shoulder, fingertips straightening her necklace to lay centered against her chest. Then, she finally called through the open doorway, “Okay, you can come out now.”

He couldn’t remember the last time they’d actually had a night without the kids. not that Logan minded his children-- the man loved them more than he loved himself most days. But when the opportunity arose, he wasn’t one to turn it down. Everyone needed a break every now and again. Today however, he was exhausted. He would have been fine with just a nice night on the couch watching shows he didn’t want the kids to watch, but Paige had insisted on something more. He was’t going to argue with her, it’d be longer since they did anything nice. Even if it was at home, he was almost excited.

Logan wasn’t quite sure what the night had in store. All he knew was Paige said she was going to plan it, and all he need do was show up-- and that was something the man was ace at. Taking little care, he dressed up in a suit-- well everything but the jacket. A vest and rolled up sleeves would have to do. It was fancier than it wasn’t. On the way home he’d pick up an arrangement of flowers-- it was something he did regularly, but today, it felt imperative.

When he got home, he was halted at the door. He didn’t know how long he’d been waiting, but it felt like forever. She was up to something, and he wasn’t sure what. Loosing patience, he almost walked in the door without permission, but as if she could still read his mind, she called out. With a smile, he slowly entered the room, flowers in hand. After taking a second to take in the room, he was amazed. She’d outdone herself, again. She always did. Turning himself to look at her however, and she was just as radiant as she always had been. One arm behind his back, and the other extended, he presented her with the flowers, “These are for you.” He said with a smile, “This is great-- I didn’t even know we had all this stuff. You’ve outdone yourself.”
