It was a terrible idea. It was a terrible, terrible idea and he knew it. He had no reason to be there, to stand in front of her door and wait for her to open up. He had no reason for it and he surely had no right to assume she wouldn’t mind. They had separated on good terms and got along just fine, talked like there wasn’t much of a history between them, but that didn’t mean he was free to assume she wouldn’t mind his moving in. How he was even supposed to bring the topic up, he didn’t know. All he did know was that after losing his job and suddenly becoming horribly aware that he wouldn’t be able to keep his own apartment for much longer, he needed her help so desperately that it almost felt embarrassing. He wasn’t sure how long he had been standing in front of her door until he finally inhaled deeply and knocked, trying hard to ignore the nervousness that was creeping up on him and slowly but surely spreading through his whole body.
