but okay SO

he’s been on the hunt for his dad for like a solid year now, right? but he can only go and search for him in bits and pieces because he has responsibilities at home too, like school and his family and keeping carefree safe. so, he hasn’t gotten very far in the search for pops. but! school’s over!! it’s summer time!!!

so sam’s packed up in space for an entire month, dedicating the whole time to finding his father.

he’s teamed up with a guy that knew the old nova, richard rider, in hopes that he may know where to find him. sam believes that the best way to find his dad is to find the worldmind, which is the power source and starting point for all novas. if he gets to worldmind, he can locate his dad! easy peasy! and because richard rider held the worldmind in him when he died, he’s basically looking for him too.

so. flash forward a bunch of stuff. sam and his buddy starstalker hop through different astral planes that rich once passed through in hopes of finding a connection, and it takes a really fucking long time. they go through twelve of them, and that kind of space-travel takes a while, so they’ve probably eaten up a decent chunk of that month just by doing this. but sam goes out and checks the last zone and prays to god that this one is it, and whaddya know, it is!!!!!!!
