Prompt: Beer and pizza
Klaus used to summon hellfire on a whim, just to stroke his fingers across his enemiesâ flesh to make it crackle and sear as they trembled before him. And now he couldnât keep a simple fire to remain lit in this wretched pizza oven. Up until a few weeks ago, heâd been a prince of hell, feared and worshipped in equal measure. And then Mikael cast him out when he learned that Klaus was not of his bloodline. Reeling from both the shock of everything he thought heâd known suddenly being wrong and the physical pain of being stripped of his demonic powers, heâd wandered the streets without purpose.
âDo you need some help,â Carolineâs cheerful voice interrupted his morose thoughts, reminding him that humanity could still surprise him. One of the unfortunate results of being cast from hell is that his insatiable bloodlust had been replaced by a voracious appetite. Heâd quickly grown weary of hunting small prey in their meager forests, but understood enough of earth to know that without their currency, heâd be unable to purchase food. It was with deepest shame and self-loathing that heâd stumbled upon a large metal receptacle behind an eating establishment, and attempted to scrounge for something to eat.
Caroline had found him, and immediately ushered him inside her eating establishment, called a restaurant, in which heâd grown inordinately fond of this food called beer and pizza. Heâd also grown inordinately fond of the lovely blonde. Her kindness had dispelled everything he thought he understood about humanity, and when sheâd offered him a job, heâd willingly accepted. Sheâd even arranged for him to be housed in a local shelter that a friend of hers ran.   A beautiful soul. Everything about his downfall made him want to sneer and tear into things until they bled, but there was something about this perky little firebrand that somehow soothed his rage. A worthy human. She was as rare as a docile hellhound, and Klaus intended to keep her. It only was a matter of time until he figured out how.
Klaus inhaled sharply, breathing in the completely ordinary scents of basil and tomatoes that suddenly were intoxicating whenever she came near. Favoring her with a dimpled smirk that caused her to blush prettily, he was pleased to see that despite losing his demonic powers, his seductive nature still was intact. âItâs nothing I canât handle â Iâve always had an affinity for fire,â he answered, purposely deepening his accented voice as it seemed to cause quite the favorable reaction among humans. Perhaps because they didnât realize that they too had accents?
âLooks like you need more dry kindling. Maybe your affinity is off today,â she teased, patting him affectionately on the arm.
He preened under her touch, noting with interest how her palm lingered a bit longer than was necessary. She seemed to appreciate his musculature, and lately heâd been making a point of positioning his body to emphasize the parts that seemed to have captured her attention. âIâll need to split some more logs out back.â He cocked his head, putting a bit of heat in his gaze as he invited, âPerhaps youâd care to watch my affinity in action, sweetheart?â
Caroline rolled her eyes, shaking her head wordlessly as she left the kitchen, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. Klaus watched her walk away, noting a slight nervousness in her step. He understood that she was about to take part in a time-honored human ritual called a date. Apparently, the previous date had performed an act known as ghosting, a confounding term that he soon discerned wasnât actually related to apparitions bound to the earth, but instead held a negative connotation.
This had caused Caroline to share multiple beers with him one evening as she lamented the inferiority of human males, her mannerisms a curious contradiction of mirth and sorrow that made him uncomfortable as it seemed she needed something from him. Heâd sensed that this could be a precursor to a mating ritual, but it somehow feltâŠwrongto take advantage of that moment.
A prince of hell shouldnât have feelings. And yet, he did.

I had very much hoped to have more written, but work and uncooperative writing ability got in my way. That being said I wanted to give something to the lovely Luiza @itsnotacrimetoloveyouâ. So I suppose consider this the short prologue. Happy Birthday!!!
PS The title was a struggle and I am such a nerd for making it what it is.
â
Her knuckles rapped against the solid oak of her fatherâs office door, its dark varnish and intricate woodwork a bit ostentatious in her humble - correct - opinion. There was a long pause, the faintest trace of voices silencing.
âCome in, daughter.â
She hid the slight sneering curl of her lips, nothing but a polite smile present as she stepped into the room. Perhaps, there was something to be said for her fatherâs ambition after all. For if her eyes did not deceive her, that was Don Mikaelson elegantly sprawled in one of the leather chairs, his bearing containing all the lethal grace of a predator.
Caroline pivoted, letting her hair shield her face for half a moment, as she closed the door with a near silent click. The deceptively innocent looks, short blonde curls and blue eyes, shockingly pink lips. Yes, he matched the rumors well. They said death was never crueler than when delivered by his angelic visage.
Well, good for him.Â
Her chin was raised as she turned back around, taking a few steps closer.
âYou wanted to see me, father?â
âYes, my dear,â he said, his eyes barely shifting from his other guest, an odd expression on his face. âWhat say you, Don Mikaelson?â
Caroline felt when his gaze settled on her, though she refused to return his regard, her eyes staring at her fatherâs now silent form. A taste like poison settled on her tongue. Her suspicions were stirring and she did not like where they were leading.
From the corner of her eye, she saw the devilish tilt of his lips, felt his eyes still boring into her. Then he spoke. His tone light and lilting, lips curling around a British accent. Almost mocking.
âSheâs certainly a lovely bird, William.â She wanted to cackle at the crease in her fatherâs brow. Her father was angry, she could feel it, offended by the slight against him. So, much for those ambitions, huh? Not even meriting a âDon Forbesâ? Of course her schadenfreude shattered with his next words. âBut please do enlighten me on why sheâs worth such a generous trade agreement?â
âCaroline,â her father started, a bit of a bite in his voice, âis an ideal companion. Beautiful, intelligent. And her powerâs subtle, perfect for swaying a room in your favor.â
She feared her teeth would break from the force with which she clenched them, poison and acid and bile boiling in her stomach.
Half her mind remained focused on the real threat in the room, aware of how he had gone still and calculating. The rest of her was too busy being infuriated beyond words, nearly beyond thought. She didnât know what disgusted her more, the idea her father was such a piss poor negotiator in the presence of a more powerful Don and he was still trying to foist her off or that he just wanted to be rid of her that badly and didnât care how desperate he seemed.Â
Though it didnât really matter did it? Either way, her own father - though he was that no longer, he was dead to her - was trying his utmost to fucking sell her like a whore.
Caroline inhaled a quiet breath, loosened her jaw, unclenched the ball of her fists that she hadnât even noticed in her turmoil.
Don Mikaelson spoke before words could spit from her lips and she was almost grateful for the time it granted her to reign in her rage, temper it, hone it into a weapon she could wield rather than an uncontrolled explosion.
âIâm rather insulted that you believe me such a fool.â
Billâs brow twitched again, an indignant light in his eyes as he opened his mouth to plead his case, but Don Mikaelson cut him off with a raised hand. âEnough. I donât care for your excuses. Iâll take the girl for the night as payment for this waste of time. If sheâs as useful as you promised then weâll talk.â
Whatever parting words the two offered to each other was swallowed by the roaring in her ears. Somehow her emotions had flown right past fury and into shocked unreality. It took several mindless steps in the Donâs shadow for her brain to turn back on. And there were only two thoughts running through her head.Â
One, William Forbes was a dead man walking. She didnât care how long it took.Â
And two, if Niklaus Mikaelson thought he could so much as put a finger on her without her consent, he could join Bill in Hell.

Prompt: âThe candles caught what on fire?â
Warning: Smut. Angst.
It was shameful how quickly Carolineâs heart dropped when she spied the delicate vintage earrings in the black velvet box Klaus gave her. Thereâs no reason to be disappointed, she chastised herself. The diamond and pearl chandelier earrings clearly had been chosen based on her tastes, and knowing her boyfriend, he spared no expense. Except sheâd briefly thought it could be an engagement ring.

Can I have a Paul imagine where the readers big sister died in a car accident and he does everything he can to make her feel better?
âą a.n: sorry for the long wait
âą warning: death of family member
âą gif not mine
ââ
you couldnât even leave your house. you stayed home curled up in blankets and didnât do much of anything except cry. it felt like you lost a piece of yourself.
paul hated seeing you in this state. he felt your pain and he would give anything in the world for you to make it go away, but there wasnât anything he could do.
you hadnât seen him in a few days, since the funeral really, and it was taking its toll on both of you. It physically hurt not seeing each other because of the bond. itâs not that you didnât want to, but you knew your sadness would only project onto him.
paul stayed away because he thought it was what you wanted, but it was hard
one day he just had enough
he goes to your house and uses the key you gave him to unlock it. you jerk up into a sitting position, surprised.
âwhat are you doing here?â you mumble
he doesnât say anything, just gets onto the couch and holds you. you settle against his chest, âwhatâs wrong?â you ask
âit feels like i havenât seen you in weeks, i just wanted to hold you for a bitâ he mutters against your hair. his arms tighten around you, âi miss youâ
you give him a sad smile, âi miss you tooâ
âthen why i havenât you talked to meâ he says, hurt in his voice.
you shrug softly, âi donât knowâ
he gives you a look that says âuh huh, sureâ
you sigh, âi didnât wanna bring you down. all iâve been doing is crying and being sad, i didnât want that to spread to youâ
âbaby iâd rather be here with you, tears and all, then be away from youâ he says as he caresses your cheek.
âiâm sorryâ you say quietly, you know the kind of pain he must have been in being away from you.
âhey you donât have to apologize for anything, just donât push me away, okay?â
you nod your head and cuddle into him.
âi feel so helpless and itâs worse knowing there isnât anything i can doâ he mutters
âthere is something you can doâ you look up at him, âjust being in your arms is more than enough for meâ
âwe can spend however long and anytime you want like thisâ he smiles softly as he traces random patterns on your back and kisses the top of your head.
nothing was gonna bring your sister back, but paul helped make the grieving process easier.

Klaroline AU Week: Day 1 (Mythological Creatures)
Late yes butâŠplease still read!
Sheâs a Valkyrie-in-training, heâs a warrior on the eve of fighting on the battlefield. Can she convince him to change his mind?Â
Here Comes the Sun
Night had long fallen. The greenfields peppered with brown tents were now shrouded in darkness. The mild rumble of conversation and a few stray lanterns burning the only sign that life existed.
Tomorrow would be different.Â
Tomorrow, the war would begin.Â
And end.
She moved about the tents quietly, the swan feathers she adorned like armor teasing her bare shoulders while her eyes darted around for any sense of danger.
Caroline was one of Odinâs Valkyries. Well actually, she was more of a Valkyrie-in-training. Born from simple beginnings and absent parents, her sweet nature, golden halo of hair, mesmerizing eyes and true beauty had captured the attention of the all-powerful God whoâd decided she was destined to serve him.Â
Caroline, being free-spirited and feisty, held no allegiances and declared she served no one until her parents decided to sell her into Odinâs service. They claimed they were doing what was best but Caroline saw it as nothing but forced slavery.
Sheâd rebelled at first but the rules were so strict amongst the valkyries that she couldnât have escaped if she tried. Sheâd met Bonnie early on whoâd encouraged her to fit in and try to make a life in Valhalla. For Caroline, it was difficult given just how forced she felt about being there.
7 months earlierâŠ
âIâm so bored here,â Caroline groaned. It seemed as if all they did was inhabit Vallhalla and serve warriors and their Gods who didnât truly appreciate them or their work ethic.Â
Sheâd always wanted to make something of her life. If Caroline had her way sheâd be the one on that battlefield holding a sword and shield against the approaching army.Â
âOnce you know them better.â
âI donât care to know any of them better.âÂ
âThatâs how I felt, well until Kol.â Caroline knew their unlikely love story. They had grown up in neighboring villages, their parents were rivals until she met their son one day and everything she believed quickly disappeared because all she cared about was him.
The Valkyries had chosen him and sent him to Valhalla and the young lovers had finally reunited. She was overjoyed and Caroline was pleased they had their happily ever after.Â
Not knowing or having experienced that kind of love, Caroline continued to live in a sheltered world. Well, until she was ordered to visit one of the nearby villages in anticipation of an upcoming war only because it held Odinâs special interest. It was Bonnie who suggested the still learning Valkyrie go, but why she didnât know.Â
Well, at first.Â
Upon first meeting the local leader, Caroline had done everything she could not to ogle him. Blonde hair, blue eyes and a toned body that deserved to be worshipped.Â
However, the man under that armor was another story.
âWhat are you doing here?â
âWell, OdinâŠâ
âNewsflash, love. I donât answer to Odin or any of his Valkyries,â he chuckled, his blue eyes inspecting her further. âHeâs certainly sending his most novice personnel.âÂ
âYou have no idea who I am,â she growled. Yes, he was gorgeous and imposing but he was also a chauvinistic ass.Â
âOh really?â
âReally,â she shot back, stepping closer to him and trying to ignore his proximity. âSo, I suggest you stop making assumptions and speak to me in a polite manner.â
âNo one has ever talked to me like that,â his expression was argumentative at first but Caroline couldnât miss the way his features softened slightly. âBut I like it.â
âIâm too smart to be seduced by you,â she shot back, their gaze unflinching.Â
âAnd thatâs why I like you, love,â he smirked. âSo, what exactly am I doing wrong here?â
Caroline wasnât usually so affected but his gorgeous accent and those dimples were messing with her concentration. âEverything, including calling me that. I do have a name.â
âAnd itâs a name Iâm so desperate to learn,â he murmured, his gaze unflinching.Â
âThen youâll have to earn it.â
âOh really?â He cocked an eyebrow, no a sexy eyebrow.Â
âWe have work to do.â
âAnd then will I learn the name of the Valkyrie who has stolen my attention?â
âIâm not like the women you bed.â
âNo, that you most definitely arenât, sweetheart.â
âSweetheart?â
âWell, until you tell me your name I really have no choice but to offer alternatives.â
âYou could call me master.â She puffed out her chest, hoping her bluff would work. She was well below him status wise but Caroline hated the fact he seemed to think he was better than her.Â
âWill do, master,â he smirked, his eyes dipping lower for a brief second and then resting on her face. âSo, put me to work.â Â
Caroline was surprised that heâd been so amenable. Not that she was complaining.Â
Theyâd worked together side-by-side for two days straight, the chemistry threatening to overwhelm them both. His crimson lips were an unexpected target taunting her incessantly with every word he spoke.
Theyâd been in very close quarters. But to his credit, Klaus Mikaelson hadnât attempted to touch her. Caroline would be lying if it wasnât driving her insane. Â
âMy brother died in the war,â he shared one night after the sun had slipped down over the horizon. They were sitting in a meadow trying to chase the last remaining hours of light. âI thought Iâd be the first sibling but he decided to surprise us and go rogue.â
âHe died?â
âHe did,â Klaus mumbled, his gaze lowered. âKol has always been wild and impulsive. I was worried that perhaps Odin sacrificed him on that battlefield.â
âKol is your brother?â
âYou know my brother?â His tone was hoarse and the combination of hope and relief crossing his features was enough to tell Caroline sheâd probably overstepped her duties. But for some reason she didnât care, all she wanted was to bring him some comfort.Â
âI do, and Iâm happy to report that he is safe and well.âÂ
âIâm glad,â he smiled. âHopefully I can join him soon in Valhalla.â
âYouâre not afraid to die?â
âThat is why I was put on this earth. I have existed for twenty-five years but never really lived except knowing him and now you.â She tried not to react, why would he care about her along with his brother?
âYou donât know me at all.â
âBut I would really like to know you.â
âI have to leave,â she uttered. The pull between them was obvious but something had told her that sheâd gone too far and this connection theyâd built was now extremely dangerous.
âBut you just got here,â he pleaded. âCanât you stay a little longer?â
âIf only I could,â sheâd replied off-handedly before making her way out of his life.Â
It would be easier this way.
Well, thatâs what she kept telling herself.

First installment of what Iâm telling you now is going to be an extremely long Jacob Black series, requested by both myself (because hey, I get to have a little fun in this requesting thing too) and an anon. âI love the idea of your Jacob story. I really want to see the reader as Bellaâs little sister (Renee was pregnant when she left idk) and Jacob falls for her when Bella meets him at the beach and later wolf stuff happens and he has to leave her and Bella in NM and then he imprints when Y/n confronts him and they sort of handle the books as a couple? Plus Cullens and Bella if you can. â Hope you like it!
All future installments can be found on the âThe Story ContinuesâŠâ page.
Your life wasnât what theyâd call cookie-cutter. There were constants, and there were inconsistencies; Hell, most of the constants in your life were that there were inconsistencies. It wasnât in any means regular, or stable, really, but it was sort of perfect in that way. Youâd grown up with you mother and sister out in the blistering heat of a Phoenix suburb, surrounded by dying house plants and instructional books, their dog-eared paged abandoned at varying time markers. Renee hadnât finished any, but with her ever-changing interests, there was always the promise of a visit to the bookstore, something both you and your sister Bella enjoyed almost as much as walking your mother through her spontaneous phases in life. It wasnât what most kids expected out of their childhoods, but parading around in the freedom Reneeâs parenting provided was liberating, just as dealing with the responsibilities she neglected (such as checking the mailbox, which saved your electricity more than once) prepared you for the weight of life. Shoulders are never too young to bear the weight of the world. It probably would have done Atlas some good if heâd had a little more practice. He wouldnât have needed Hercules.
Aside from the constant of Reneeâs inconstant interests, there was your father, Charlie. You werenât supposed to call him Charlie to his face, just like you werenât supposed to call Renee Renee to her face, but slips were made and he didnât seem to mind much. After all, you didnât have any experience with him until about five months after youâd been born. In those last days before your motherâs fated departure from Forks, Washington, your parents had had what your mother would nonchalantly refer to as their last moment of unconditional love. You were the product of that last burst of passion, though you werenât exactly the desired effect. Charlie hadnât been secretive in his history with your mother, but even if he had been, it wasnât difficult to see that his intentions were for her to stay. He was energetic, he was lively, he was passionate⊠all these things he proved to her, but still she left, this time with the promise of a second child growing alongside her first. Because you didnât have much experience with Charlie throughout your infancy, you took to spending more time than Bella deemed necessary up in Forks. It was important to you that you have your father in your life, as your prenatal time was absorbed only in Renee. Youâd go down with Bella in the summer (until, of course, she decided on California with Charlie instead. Youâd stay with him without her afterwards, and not for as long, until you convinced her to return to Forks with you. Charlie was thankful.), watch her wallow through the rain she hated so much, and when autumn came rolling in, youâd remain in your fatherâs home, sometimes well into the school year. More often than not, though, you ended up returning home a month or two into the education process. Your visits and stays were frequent enough that you were never really the ânew kid,â you were merely the travelling student teachers dreaded having placed in their classrooms. You required integration, and most would rather request to have their licences revoked than spend time updating a student while their class raged on. But it was worth the hectic immersion and rolling eyes to spend time with Charlie.
You meshed well with him, with Forks. It was like a sedative, moving from the honking car horns and ten-hour traffic to the emerald canopy and constant rainfall you found in northern Washington. Charlie was no Renee, either: he was responsible, he was level-headed, predictable. He held a solid job. He was gone from a certain time in the morning to a designated time at night. If ever there was an impressive crime rate in Forks, you imagine it would be a little less stable, living with your father, but the town was clouded constantly in peace. You could decompress, you could breathe again. What Bella saw as growing gills you saw as clearing your lungs. You two were very much alike in most fields; other than Forks, you were practically twins. You shared nearly everything, from books to clothing to secrets. Up until last year, youâd shared a bedroom at Charlieâs; now, you preferred the guest room by the washing machine. It was closer to the ground, closer to the kitchen, and closer to the door. You were always eager to escape the confines of the house and enjoy the rain-slicked nature outside, especially during football season, which, ironically enough, provided your favourite reason for leaving the vicinity. When Billy Black rolled around to watch the game, he brought with him his daughters and his son for you and Bella to entertain yourselves with. With the children out of the way, it was easier to enjoy the sport. Forks provided friendships, the likes of which youâd never found in Phoenix.
This was one of the very few factors youâd had to make into many to convince Bella to stay the year with you in Forks. It was the longest youâd ever dared intrude on Charlieâs peace, but a stay heâd fully encouraged. You couldnât stand to be separated from your sister for so long a time (you couldnât begin to imagine what itâd be like when she left for college), but youâd always been the eager one when it came to Forks. The rain you dismissed; you told her itâd be a dry year, a fact youâd pulled out of thin air, but a fact that eroded her resolve. There was the promise of fewer potential heart attacks while living with the less-than-spontaneous Charlie. Bella had more of your father in her anyways, what would be uncomfortable about spending more time with the heavier end of her genetic coding? Sheâd turned that one on you, of course; you had a little more Renee, physically, but you were able to counter with the promise of Jacob Black. It was a name she remembered vaguely, having spent every other summer in Forks and not always with Jacob (football season did, after all, start in fall. She was usually soaking up the last of the Phoenix summer by that time), but a name that promised happiness nonetheless. You had her hooked in less than ten minutes of discussion, and Charlie was on board in less than three. He was never one for lengthy conversation, so you expected an easy victory from him. Renee was, conveniently, being whisked away by her Phil (a nice enough guy, but the type that ground your gears; he was dead-set on playing the soccer-coach dad, and you werenât having any of it. That was probably why he liked Bella more) as he tried to find a team. With very minimal effort, youâd secured a year in Forks, sister included, the promise of new beginnings fueling your excitement even after over one thousand five hundred miles of travel. The rain purified, the air filtered through your lungs, and you were home.
Charlie met you both in his cruiser, naturally, and you relinquished the front seat to your older sister, crunching yourself against the Plexiglas barrier separating criminal from law enforcement officer, or, in your case, father from daughter. Charlie wasnât the type to ramble on, or even hold a casual conversation, but he managed to slip out a few sentences, likely for your sake. While Bella was comfortable with silence, you were more keen to listen to his voice. He inquired about your flight, if the airplane food was any good, that sort of thing. You replied accordingly, watching Bella grin in the side mirrorâs reflection as you explained the turbulence issues and how you had tried to bribe the flight attendant to tell the pilot to go easy on the corkscrews. Charlie chuckled, his mustache twitching as he fought to control the smile that broke out across his face. He reminded you both of the starting date for Forks high school, a whopping day away (something Bella had remembered, but you had forgotten. Too much Renee. It was a running joke), and mentioned a certain surprise for the both of you waiting at the house. Bella hated surprises almost as much as you did; though youâd think the amount of your mother in you would excite at the thought of surprises, having your entire existence be a surprise sort of sallowed the idea. Charlieâs kind brown eyes locked on yours in his rearview, promising you would love whatever he had planning. You hoped to God he was right.
What was waiting was a rusted old Chevy for Bella, a good sturdy truck, dependable enough that even she couldnât crash the thing and ruin the exterior. What was waiting inside the car, however, was your surprise. You ran to the truck, running your fingertips over the russet metal, watching as flimsy metal flakes drifted to the rain-slick asphalt at your feet, wandering aimlessly to the passenger side to relish in the leather interior. They didnât make them like this anymore, and you were eager to see what the truck had to offer, if Bella was willing to give it a test drive. Unfortunately, your seat was taken by a certain Jacob Black, his long hair uncharacteristically billowing to his shoulders, his eyes crinkling in the corners as your jaw dropped. He smiled that wide, open smile of his, his teeth gleaming brightly against the backdrop of his velvet skin. He slid out of the car, wrapping his arms around your shoulders, enveloping you in his embrace. His chuckles rumbled against your ear as you squeezed your arms around his waist, moving with him as he rocked your body from side to side. It was good to be home.
âSurprise,â he whispered, laughing into your hair as you muffled your own giddy sounds of joy against his chest. Heâd grown since you last saw him, but that was to be expected of a teenage boy. Still, he was somewhat locked in your memory as a clumsy child running around Charlieâs tree, trailed by his sisters, yourself, and an even clumsier Bella. It was almost unbelievable to see how heâd grown. His hug lasted a lifetime, his face pressed into the side of your cheek, an intimate experience, without doubt, but one you both were more than comfortable with. Jacob was just⊠easy to be with. It wasnât uncommon for his arm to be slung around your shoulder as you walked, which you did now, returning to Bellaâs side. Jacob reintroduced himself (in Bellaâs defense, he did look a lot different from the last time she saw him), extending his free hand outward for her to shake. Charlie ducked inside the house, dropping a suitcase to pat Jacob on the back as he went, voicing his well-wishes for Billy as the door shut behind him. Bella soon followed, setting off to wash her face and prepare for the next day at school. She was not as familiar with the student population of Forks as you were; tomorrow would be an entirely different experience for her. It almost made you feel guilty, but Jacobâs arm around your shoulder banished the thought instantly. âSo, how much time do you think weâve got before the Chief calls curfew?â he asked, his eyes sparkling with glee. God, it was so good to be home. You smiled, tilting your head in mock contemplation.
âI figure weâve got an hour or two. I havenât eaten since Phoenix, you know, so I may have to leave you for dinner.â At this, he playfully rolled his eyes, accepting the nudge in the side you aimed his way, ducking the both of you in the direction of Bellaâs truck. âHey, Iâm sacrificing for you, Jake. Donât you pull that with me.â Jacob held his hand up in surrender, propping himself against the truck bedâs side, his lips concealing the smile that threatened to poke through as he feigned defeat.
âSo, whatâd I miss? Itâs been, what, nine months since you were here? Any new near-death experiences I should know about? What was it- was it yoga?- is your mom still into that?â You snorted, shaking your head at his memory. This kid was made of gold.
âYes and no. Sheâs crocheting now. And you should have seen the turbulence on our flight. Oh my God, Jake, I was this close, this close, to jumping shipâŠâ You night continued on in that fashion; Jacobâs laughter painted the sunset above, his eyes widened at your ridiculous encounters while you were separated, and his smooth voice filled the gaps within your storytelling with tales of his own. His sister got married, heâs working on a new car, his friend Embry Call had asked that girl he liked so much on a date and she had denied him. Your months apart seemed to disintegrate as you spoke, narrating your lives and illustrating with wild hand gestures the events you both had missed. It was as if youâd never left. The only evidence of your departure was the car holding the both of you upright and the few inches Jake had accumulated in his bones. When Charlie called for dinner, Jacob reluctantly took his leave, walking around to the car heâd hidden in the trees (Police Chief Swan wasnât supposed to know he was driving), waving out of his window as he returned to La Push. You sighed, watching him disappear around a curve in the winding road before you stumbled into Charlieâs house, plopping yourself down at the table to eat the eggs your father had prepared. Good old Charlie and his incompetence in the kitchen. You were sure Bella would find a way into the position of chef, but for now, you enjoyed whatever your father had to offer. After a quiet meal, you retired to your little makeshift bedroom, bidding your sister goodnight as she returned to what was her nursery. You collapsed atop your sheets, your mind hot-wired towards Jacob Black and the happy events of the night, making sleep next to impossible. The rain ate away at the exterior of the house as your mind replayed the sound of his laughter, painting your restless eyelids with the alluring green of the forest. Upstairs, in the room directly overhead, Bella was sharing your sleepless night, her heart wrenching tight with homesickness just as your homesickness disappeared. This was your home, and you were beyond elated to be back.

Klaroline fanfic update: Ghostly Secrets
Started work on the next chapter of my Klaroline multi-chap, Ghostly Secrets. Hereâs a quick look:
Chapter 3: It Was You, Wasnât It?
Heâd purposely put the handcuffs on too tight. Dimpled bastard. Caroline had worn handcuffs a few times in her life (sometimes for fun reasons, and maybe once or twice for irritating situations like this), and she realized that Klaus was going out of his way to try to intimidate her with the tight cuffs, angry scowls, and hostile comments about how heâd âsent for a patrol car to pick her upâ and âsheâd be booked at the station.â
It had been a surprise to learn that âbrooding artistâ was just a hobby for Klaus and that he was actually a New Orleans police detective. Despite her irritation at this narrow-minded asshat, she couldnât help but admire the powerful lines of his body. And that face. So much barely controlled rage hidden behind such a beautiful face.
Caroline could feel her own temper flare at his smug grin when the blue and white patrol car arrived. He gave a short nod to the officer and said, âOfficer Donovan, right on time. This shameless grifter needs to be taken down to the station. Iâll be along shortly to give my statement.â
She did her best to tuck in her small grin as she saw the way the officerâs innocent blue eyes lit up excitedly as he recognized her. âHi Matty,â she said cheerfully.
