No offense but…. diet mountain dew baby new york city…
i would take a bullet for you
let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain
muggy leeds, what a dream. i would take train rides out to the city centre with my parents often, fantasising about living what i saw as the ‘big city’ - to be fair, any city is big when you’re from hull. earphones in on the train, marina and the diamonds or arctic monkeys probably, wondering when it would be my time to experience the bustle. if only i knew then how much i wish for those times on the train back, innocent, carefree and completely delusional.
brand new blazer paired with my 1975 tour tee, tennis skirt, knee socks, docs and my chanel tote
I felt alone for reasons unknown to me
ultraviolence was an eye opening record for 13 year old me. it was the record that catapulted me into lana’s discography, and the realisation that i could listen to music that wasn’t constantly fast paced was new to me. I felt like another person listening to this record, much older than i was then, like the girls i saw on tumblr. long dark hair, nails red, cigarette between my fingers, sensual and devine. the dream. a homewrecker by night, lonely girl by day. of course i wasn’t her, whoever she was, but isn’t it fun how an album can make you feel like a whole different persona?
DO I WANNA KNOW?
hearing the intro to do i wanna know for the first time is a feeling i’d die to be transported back to. i remember thinking this was the absolute height of rock and roll, nothing could top this, I am so dark and edgy and nobody else my age could listen to something as hardcore as this. pure sex in the bass, huge black boots, leather jacket, gashes for rips in my jeans. I felt absolutely unstoppable. devine.
women who wear black live colourful lives
when I was younger I remember always seeing my Mum in black. The only time she would wear any sign of colour was a leopard print scarf tied around her neck, tucked into her black leather jacket. curious as a lover of pink when I was little, I once asked her if it was her favourite colour - to which she replied, ‘it goes with everything’.
If I only knew how true that was then, and could see myself now - my wardrobe is a funeral and you know what, I love it. cheers, mum x
a day in the dark, a day in the cloud of gloom.
I could stare out at this view all day. at thirteen I would always look into the windows of coffee shops and cafes, waiting for my turn to be in those sofa chairs. A black coffee in left hand, red lipstick stain around the rim, a dark novel in the right hand. Huge rounded sunglasses hiding the hungover eyes, the feeling of caffeine pumping round my body exhilarating me. So extra, and in no way reflecting my current 19 year old self.
stone cold eyes, stone cold heart
Ain‘t youth meant to be beautiful?

a moment for the bubble braid, p2
I have this album cover engraved in my brain
owned this book in 2014, still don’t really know what it’s about
