sometimes i randomly remember these tags and laugh

also now i think about it, is there some deeper meaning to the gatesex regarding ángel’s freedom of movement vs krester’s, beyond the obvious “krester is trapped while ángel is free” visual? like, ángel is constantly reaching in through the bars to intrude on somewhere he shouldn’t be, and in episode 2 he has no qualms about entering the third-class section so he can wander around looking for krester. but when krester is the one who wants to come outside (while clearly upset and crying about something, no less), god forbid ángel do him a solid and just slide the chain thingy off the thingy. like ángel thinks he can go wherever he wants because he’s ✨Ángel✨, but he also thinks krester needs to stay in his place (literally) so he keeps that barrier between them.

also very interesting because, while i vaguely thought of them as being like eyk's shoulder angel and shoulder devil lol, i never thought of them being deliberately written as foils of each other - one man who goes rogue for what he believes is the greater good, and one man who stubbornly refuses to go rogue despite being literally the only person (apart from daniel and henry) who has all the information and is actually in a position to help everyone. even their appearances are opposite because sebastian is always neatly put-together (well, apart from during the mutiny) while franz always looks like That.

I'll be honest with you I'm extremely Ramiro/Krester brainrotted right now

i mean, here are some of the questions i ask myself, if that counts:

if ramiro is the one wandering around the deck and meets krester at the gate, how would they interact? (this could take place at a different time from ángel's gate scenes in ep 1 and 3, so those scenes still happen)

if not the above, what would be their ideal meet-cute?

krester and ramiro are on opposing sides during the mutiny - if they had a chance to talk during the rain fight, what would they say?

if krester stays with ángel in ep 4 instead of going with his mother, would ángel still be completely traumatised in ep 5? (i guess krester could still walk out when he hears the ticking, leaving ángel by himself)

if krester is shovelling coal in the boiler room during the storm, what would he do during/after ángel's "death"?

when everyone gets separated in ep 8, who would krester team up with? would he even try that hard to run away or would he just sit down and let the virus take him?

how would ramiro's memory scene play out if he's with krester instead of ling yi?

in general, what would krester think of all the priest-murdering and fake-priesting?
