Tea and Crackers II Lyla & Dia
Whilst Dia was absorbed in admiring the flowers in her hands, she at first didn’t notice what Lyla was doing, but when she heard the crinkle of the cracker wrapper, she looked up curiously. It was an odd offering, to be sure, but a small smile crept onto her lips in amusement. Crackers and tea? That was surely an odd pair, and at the same time, she was so grateful that Lyla had been thinking of her that she didn’t even mind.
Setting the flowers on her night stand, she reached out for one of the packages, “It is fine, thank you for thinking of me, Lyla. Really, it is… Very kind of you to visit. I… Know it is not pleasant to be in such a place…” or so she surmised, as she rarely got visitors. Even her own parents had yet to visit since she arrived in Bluebell.Â
Dia opened the little package then, waiting to hear about things in Lyla’s world. Hers was obviously dull, so it was far more interesting to hear about what others were doing. Besides, it had been a long time since she’d seen Lyla, so surely life had been somewhat interesting for her. Why else would she be moving? She only hoped it wasn’t because of that dreadful Funland Corporation.Â
Taking a bite of one the crackers, Dia chewed thoughtfully, listening quietly while Lyla hesitantly spoke. Listening was a skill she was quite good at and she watching the expression changes and body language of her friend, growing more curious. It seemed she was trying to keep Dia from worrying about her, something she was used to people doing. They always worried about adding stress to her, but it could be a bit frustrating at times.Â
“… I see. Funland… Did not influence this move, did they?” she asked finally, a little hesitantly herself. There was a worried expression on her face as she met the eyes of her friend. She knew her seriousness could be unnerving to some, but that was simply how she always had been. “I am quite pleased that you will be living nearby again, I…. Only hope that the reason is not an ill one…. I… Do hope that I will be able to convince Martha to let me venture over to your show from time to time… I miss the flowers…”
As she said that, she trailed off and looked over at the flowers on her night stand, a small smile crossing her face once again. They really were pretty. It was hard not to be cheered when surrounded by such beauty.
Lyla took a sip of the hot tea and came to the realization that no amount of sugar could possibly make it taste as good as what Dia probably has at her home. That, or she’d just burnt her tongue and can’t taste it right. She held the cup in her lap and gave Dia a smile. “Of course, Dia. How couldn’t I visit you? By the way, be careful... it’s still a bit hot.”
Funland... thankfully that wasn’t the reason for the move, so Leaf Valley would remain intact. “Ah, no. Funland isn’t the reason for my moving. Last I heard of the project, it was scrapped, thankfully.”
Lyla scrunched up her nose, making a comical face. Her smile still held a hint of sadness though, and she couldn’t really look Dia in the eyes. “I’m moving for personal reasons. I recently experienced a loss and I have too many memories in that home, so... that was the moment that I finally decided to move.” She perked up immediately, looking Dia in the eyes again. “But please, don’t worry about it... people go  through these things. I’ll be fine. I guess I’m just... lonely, is all.”
She stroked the rim of her cup with her thumbs. “I’m kind of glad that I’m moving as well. After all, now I’ll be closer to you and such! I guess I was just trying to put up a fight until the last minute!” a small, weak laughter escaped from her lips. “And I’m sure you’ll be able to visit once you’re better. I’m glad to see that you’re well!~ Besides, even if you couldn’t come, now I’ll be able to come see you on my days off...”
Giving her a sweet smile, Lyla added,”...And I’ll always be sure to bring you flowers~”
