chapter 47 — woo! that'll do it!
As the elevator ride seemed to go on for eternity, Jay can feel his phone buzzing, over and over again.
He lets out a deep sigh as it seems as if the notifications won't stop anytime soon, and he knows all of them were from his friends who were definitely either confused or mad; maybe even both.
Jay would love to clarify with them and tell them what's going on right now, but the truth is... he doesn't know either.
The thoughts in his mind slowly disappear as soon as he hears the elevator bell chime on the top floor, Jay takes a final deep breath before walking out.
His eyes were sharper and darker than ever, and his jaw was clenched as the mere image of his father appeared in his mind.
Before the secretary is able to even greet the boy, Jay walks past her desk and storms into his father's office. Everything else seemed to matter so little to him as of this moment.
"What the fuck is this?" He raises his voice, staring at the man who was sitting at the big desk in front of him.
The big television on the left side of Jay's eye view seemed to turn into background noise, despite the news topic being about himself and the very company he was standing in right now.
"Where's your respect for your own father?" He only eyes the boy, ending his call calmly. The two were just a few mere meters away, yet you could still feel the cold tension increasing between them.
"Cut the bullshit and explain." Jay's eyes looked as if they were shooting daggers into the elder's, he then motions his head to the direction of the TV.
Jay's father kept an emotionless face, but that facade faltered just for a second; his son seemed to notice that. Jay steps closer, "Now." He says as he grits his teeth in anger.
"It was a business deal, Jongseong. Haven't you seen our stocks?" For the first time in a very long time, Jay gets called by his Korean name.
He hasn't heard that in years.
"Higher than ever, is what it is." His father stands up from his seat and starts slowly walking towards Jay, "I only did it for us, for the company, son."
Each step was more agonising than the last. The tension was even more colder than before, only now, the air starting getting suffocating.
Both their eyes were locked onto eachother, "Plus, what I did was a favour." Jay's father steps in front of him. "That girl would have never gotten you anywhere." He adds on, chuckling at the end as he adjusts his son's white dress shirt collar.
Jay's eyes widen as he realises what the elder meant.
"But Minju will." His father smiles, finishing adjusting the dress shirt.
That smile is quickly taken off his face as he gets a punch to the face, Jay's thoughts consumed him. He looks at his father as the man steps back, "You do not get to call me 'Jongseong.'"
"You don't get to say anything about anyone in my personal life." Stepping closer, he punches his father again. "And that was never a fucking favour." His eyes were burning with anger as he throws the last punch.
Jay walks out, furious; leaving his father on the floor, taken aback and definitely injured.
