"I changed up my hair again. ..I hope it "blue" you away."

"Well, if my Hercules is actually just around the corner, the guy better hurry up because I’m sick and tired of waiting for him to notice me," she sighed. Carson had been in love with Teddy since third year and here she was, four years later, still moping about it. Glad to know that she made zero progress on either trying to get him to notice her like that or getting over him. She smiled back at him. "Great! It’s settled then. Oh, and I need to get you to watch Teen Wolf, American Horror Story and Supernatural with me!"
"I think it will," she said softly. The girl looked around the room, when her eyes fell on the Daily Prophet newspaper that someone had left laying around. The front page was about attacks on some families, very much like the attacks that had happened seventeen years ago. "I have a feeling that it’s starting again," Carson whispered, staring at the paper.
She smiled slightly as he nudged her lightly with his elbow. “Yeah,” she sighed. “I guess you’re right.” Carson laid her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes.
"He will soon, trust me," he said, giving her a warm smile. He knew Carson deserved nothing more than to be with someone who loved her for her. His eyebrows knitted together in puzzlement and he cocked his head to the side slightly as she listed the weird titles. "I've never heard of those Disney movies..." he mumbled, his voice trailing off in confusion. They didn't exactly sound family friendly.
"Good," he responded with a smile. He craned his neck to take a look at the article on the newspaper she was currently reading. His eyes skimmed over the words as his brows pulled together, a strong feeling of unease erupting in his stomach. He swallowed hard. "I hope not," he muttered with a shake of his head.
He leaned his head on top of Carson's, his vibrant green locks contrasting against Carson's dark curls. A grin crept its way across his face. "I'm always right."

Carson looked at him, shrugging sadly. “Just someone who found his Cinderella,” she replied quietly. “And sadly, I’m not that Cinderella. I’m basically the version of Cinderella that was doomed to never get her happy ending. And, I pretty much accepted it, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt.” She smiled at his words, nodding. “I will. You can come over during the summer if you’d like.”
"That’s not such a bad idea," she mused, running a hand through her hair. "I’ll try that sometime." Carson cracked a smile. "I know. But I do appreciate the effort you make, you know?"
"They are; you’re sweet, a great friend, an amazing Gryffindor, and I’m pretty sure your Dad likes the fact that you inherited some of his mischievousness," she said softly. "You’re right,… I-I’m trying to see myself the way you see me, but I can’t. It’s too hard."
"Well he's an absolute tosser, whoever he is," he mumbled in response. Teddy chewed on his lip as she spoke, looking down at his shoes. "You may not be Cinderella but who knows you could be Meg instead and your Herculues may just be around the corner." The corners of his mouth lifted into a grin at her offer. "That sounds great."
His smile grew wider as she considered his suggestion. He felt happy that he was finally able to produce useful thought when it came to comforting people. "You should and I hope it helps you out. Even if it's just a little bit."
He chuckled softly at her response. He had been told quite a few times before that he'd inherited a lot of his dad's characteristics and he took it as compliment each time.He nudged her softly with his elbow. "Everything is hard before it becomes easy."

"I never preferred to be the person under the spotlight, constantly under everyone’s radar. I like it better to just slink off to the side and not have to be that one kid who sticks out." She mumbled, hesitant to admit this information to a stranger whom she’d only met due thirty minutes ago. A small heat rose to her cheeks at his compliment, to which she adjusted her hair to where he couldn’t notice the blush lining her face. "Thank you." She responded, and was more than grateful when he brought the attention back to himself, about his eye color. She liked his eyes, sure she may have seen a few other people with the same pattern before but his had a small twinkle in them, almost mischievous she could say. She saw his face shit from excitement to a look a student usually bared when in a lecture, and cleared her throat to cut the tension. "Well, maybe you could take personal experiences or things you’ve seen before maybe. Like with each definition relate it to something personal."
"Oh, I see," Teddy replied, pursing his lips slightly. "I kind of understand where you're coming from though. I do have the odd day where I wish I could just scoot off to the sidelines away from everyone but even if I changed my hair into a normal colour and my eyes, I'm still going to be labelled "that guy with the stupid hair".I'd rather have a more appealing title like "the star quidditch player" but we all know that'll never happen." He finished off his small speech with a soft chuckle. He knew he'd never even make a substitute on the quidditch team. He couldn't even walk in a straight line, let alone fly. The corners of his mouth turned upward in a small smile as she acknowledged his compliment."You're welcome," he mumbled into the palm of his clammy hand. The small began to drop from his face at her suggestion and he shook his head, his pink hair falling forward into his eyes. "No..I...I don't think that would work," he muttered, fixing the strands of his hair back into place. "...Is there any other way?"

"I know," she grinned. "Mum would tell me about the pranks she would help them pull and the ridiculous amounts of detention they get. Your dad was actually the one to give them ideas, but he’s also the one that keeps them in line." The small sad smile appeared on her face again. "Well, I already found my Prince Charming," she sighed. "But I’m not his Cinderella." She smiled at his words. "I’d much rather have a love story like Hercules. Meg reminds me a lot of myself and she’s so badass. I love how Hercules basically sacrificed his life just so he can get her soul back, because she pushed him out of the way of a falling pillar.”
"And how do I let it out?" The girl asked. "I do try; I mean, I do it with archery, but I’m not that good with feelings sometimes, Ted."
Another smile came to her face when she saw the trace of a smile on his lips. “They’re very proud of you Teddy,” she said softly. “I’m sure of it. How can they not be proud?”Carson shook her head. “I’m not missing out on anything.”
He smiled fondly as she told him about what his dad was like in his teenage years. He had heard that his father was the sensible one of the group before but he never thought that he could be the one who thought up some of their most mischievous ideas. Teddy wished he was still here so he could hear the stories firsthand. He perked up at the mention of her Prince Charming. "Really?" he asked, arching a brow. "Who is it?" Teddy listened intently as she told him the story of Hercules. "I've never seen that one. You should show it to me sometime."
"You could try writing it down on a piece of paper and then ripping it to pieces. My nan once suggested it to me as a way of venting your feelings out. I think it's a good way. You're still letting out your thoughts even if it's not verbally and it's more secretive." He shrugged. "It's an idea, I guess and I know how you feel. Me and feelings don't mix too well either."
"I hope they are," was all he said. He could think of plenty of reasons why they might not be proud. He didn't possess any particular talent. He wasn't super smart like Rose Weasley, confident like James Potter or good at quidditch like the stupid Connor McLaggen. He kept his mouth shut, letting all these thoughts roam around in his mind. "Carson, I'm not saying these things for the hell of it. If I thought you sucked, I'd tell you. You know how I am."
Oblivious || theonlyrxason
"Yep," she nodded. "Whenever I tell my parents a story about what James II did, they’d just smile wistfully and say that that’s what James Sr. was like. Except, right now, James II isn’t trying to impress his own Lily Evans… That’s what James Sr. used to do a lot apparently. I think it’s quite cute that they got together in the end. From what Mum and Dad told me, they love each other and Harry dearly." A small sad smile came to her face. "I can only hope that someday he or someone else will love me like that," she whispered out without thinking. "But that’s too much to hope for."
"I know," she nodded and smiled slightly. "I truly appreciate the thought Ted, but like I said; this is irrelevant and I don’t want to bug you." It’s slightly uncomfortable to talk about being heartbroken to the person who’s the reason why you’re heartbroken.
Carson wrapped an arm around his shoulder, pulling him close to her. “But we all love her to death, don’t we?” she whispered, hoping that at least a small smile would come to his face. “She’s like the grandma I never had.” Honestly, Andromeda Tonks was indeed the grandma she never had, seeing as her own grandparents were killed in the Second Wizard War against Voldemort. “Nah, she probably see your mother in you when that happens,” she smiled. “My parents told me that you remind them so much of your parents.” Once more she shook her head. “We are our worst critics,” she said simply. “I see myself differently from how others see me.”
"My dad used to be best friends with them. Him and James helped create the Marauders Map when they were still at school here. Harry gave it to me a few years back. I thought he'd give it to James seeing as he's his son but he told me he felt it was only right that I have it." A smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he replayed the memory over in his mind. He was lucky to have a godfather that was as kind to him as Harry was. "That's why I always sneak off to the kitchens, if you were ever wondering." He sighed, nodding in agreement with her words. He too hoped he would one day find someone who loved him for him, metamorphic traits and all. "Don't worry, Carson. You'll find your 'Prince Charming' someday." He turned and gave her a cheesy grin. "Hermione also told me about Cinderella."
He nodded twice before giving her a small smile. "Okay, if that's how you feel about it. I still don't think it's good for you to bottle it all up though. You should let it out somehow, even if it's not telling me."
Teddy leaned into her hug, resting his head on her shoulder. "Yeah, we do," he replied, a trace of a smile on his lips. His eyes brightened as she told him what her parents had said. He had heard so many stories about his parents growing up and he knew without a doubt the two of them had been amazing people. He wished he could grow up to be half the person they were. "I hope I'm making them proud, wherever they are." He let out a barely audible sigh. "It's a shame. You're missing out."

"Honestly, from what Mum and Dad told me, he’s like the actual mini version of James Potter Sr.," she smiled. "And, he reminds me a lot of Cole and Grayson, too." An even wider smile came to her face when she mentioned two of the boys that were like brothers to her; the former a younger brother, and the latter, an older brother. "Always pulling pranks, a bit cocky, but once you look past that, good guys at heart. Even if Cole doesn’t seem like it at times, he really is a great person once you break through his ‘bad boy’ exterior." Carson can’t help the grin that made it’s way to her face when she saw that Teddy’s hair was becoming green. It made her extremely happy to know that she was the one making him smile right now; that was the best feeling in the world for her.
"Well, at least they know you tried," she said, and nodded, biting her lip. "I know. I just don’t want to burden you with something irrelevant and small. Most of my problems aren’t that big." Well, unless you count a recurring nightmare that makes her scream and thrash in her sleep, small… Which most people wouldn’t, but Carson didn’t want to tell him what had happened to her the summer between fifth and sixth year. Only Elijah, Grayson, Avery, Alex, Cole and her parents know. She never told Teddy.
Carson chuckled. “I do love your grandmother. She tells the most amazing stories, ya know? I love her name too. Did she ever tell you that she was named not just after a constellation, but after a princess from the Greek Mythology as well?” she asked, her inner nerd showing, before she blushed. “Uh, forget what I just said.” She always thought that she’d bore him if she talked a lot about Greek myths. “That’s not true; why would she like a family friend’s daughter more than she loves you, her grandson? And don’t you ever think that. You’re a great wizard Teddy.” Carson smiled at him and shook her head at his words. “How can I be more than that, when that’s all I truly am?”
"Oh, really?" He said, perking up. He never really heard much stories about James Potter Snr, only that he helped create the Marauders Map along with his own father and died whilst trying to protect his wife and Harry. His grandmother only knew of him through Sirius because she had already left Hogwarts when they started. He knew his dad had been best friends with James and he thinks that if he were still here today he would have told Teddy countless stories about the antics they got up to in their Hogwarts years. Teddy had to smile at the thought.
"Still, a problem is a problem no matter how small," he stated, "No problem is irrelevant. It might help you slightly if you were to get it off your chest." He knew that the latter was easier said than done. Teddy himself struggled with opening up about his problems to others. He didn't want to appear pushy so he quickly added in, "You don't need to. I'm not forcing you. Just if you ever want to, I'll be here."
Teddy chuckled along with Carson. "I love her too. Yeah, she does but she's kind of getting to that stage where she'll tell you a story again and again because she forgets she already told you it before." His expression turned sad momentarily. He loved his grandmother with all his heart. She was the only real family he has left. He'd be lost if anything were to happen to her. Teddy always sits there and lets her excitedly explain her stories to him even though he had probably heard twice before in the same week. He couldn't bare to hurt her feelings. "Because I'm constantly tripping over stuff and breaking cups and plates," he replied with a light laugh. "It kinda sucks that you don't see yourself the way I see you, the way Eli sees you, the way Cole sees or the way Grayson sees you. Even the way my grandmother sees you. There's probably a spell lurking around in a book somewhere that can help you do just that. I'll find it for you, if you want."

"Love," she grinned. "Eli and I would watch them all the time when we were kids. And, sometimes, we’d reenact some of the scenes from the movies, and he’ll force me to be a princess." Carson smiled softly. "Those two are adorable… I wish I had them as siblings. Or maybe James Potter. He’s quite annoying and mischievous, but he’s very kind."
She forced a smile on her face. “That’s my job Ted,” she said quietly, looking at him. “To understand people and be the comforter.” That’s how it’s been and that’s how it will always be. “It’s the least I can do for people putting up with my shit.” Even though she barely has any issues other than well, guy issues, she still thinks that she’s a burden to people, so she lets them rant and she listens attentively.
"I’m not kidding; you know how reckless I can get and how I’m more of a ‘do before thinking through’ kind of person. That’s what will be the death of me," she shook her head. "Your grandmother’s probably just saying that to be nice." Carson can’t accept compliments, no matter how hard she tries to, it just doesn’t work. "That’s not true; your best subject is DADA, and you got that from your Dad. You’ll be great at fighting Dark wizards, Ted. Your Mum was an amazing Auror, and your Dad was a great DADA teacher. If anything, you’ll do tons better than me." She smiled softly at his words. "Thanks, but we all know that I’m not amazing. I’m just your normal, average witch. Who happens to be a good archer. No more, no less."
"That's cute," he says, chuckling as she told him the story. He kind of wished he had had someone he could have played those type of games with when he was younger. There was no one around that was a similar age to him, except for Victoire. He didn't see her that often when they were growing up and when he did he was always very shy around her. It was only when they started school and were sorted into the same house they started to become friends. "Yeah, Rose and Hugo are pretty adorable. They're a handful at times but I guess all kids are." He smiled fondly as she mentioned James. He happened to be one of the kids that Teddy was closest to. "James is great once you get past his ego. There's never a dull moment when you're talking to him." Teddy failed to notice but the tips of his hair were slowly turning green.
"I never know how to comfort people properly," he says with a deep sigh. "All I can ever manage is "That sucks' and a pat on the back and I feel bad because I know that that's not what they need." He nudged her with his shoulder. "Hey. You know you can talk to me about anything, right?" Carson had been there for Teddy more times than he could count and the least he could do was repay the favor.
He gave her a look. "My grandmother saying that just to be nice? C'mon Carson you know my grandmother. If she doesn't like something, she'll let you know. She says the truth no matter what the outcome. I'm convinced she likes you more than me. She's always asking me to invite you over more often. I think she thinks the pair of you are friends." He shook his head, despite the facts about his parents being true. "My clumsiness overpowers my talents for DADA. I'll send a strong stunning curse but then I'll trip over my own feet and send it flying in the opposite members, probably hitting one of the good guys in the process." He returned her smile with a small one of his own but it faltered slightly as she began doubting herself. He wished Carson could see what an amazing friend he thought she was. "That isn't true. You're more than that. If anyone disagrees they can deal with me."
