RP Blogs and the Like Button

Guys. Blog guys. WoW blog guys.

Some of you might wonder ‘People click the Like button on my stories/blogs, but is that just a token thing? It’s probably a token thing.’ And sometimes it is a ‘I read this and thought it was cool and I enjoyed it’ thing. But other times it’s a:

“Oh man.  This was good, but there’s also a philosophical point in there (or a piece of action) that I’d love to respond to IC’ly with one of my people! But I don’t know that character, or the player, and it’s not my faction, and I have no reason my character could ever conceivably be there, and how would there be a conversation in those circumstances anyway, and Tumblr’s format means I could reblog and add my characters response, but how would the player take that, would they think I was trying to make it canon, and besides it’s kinda weird to tack something like that on the end of someone else’s writing, but damn I would really like to RP with a character like this one with a character like mine, hey is this person even on the same server as mine, I wonder what the player thinks about that, OH IT IS ALL TOO HARD AND I DON’T WANT TO OFFEND PEOPLE OR BE PUSHY AND THUS I MUST REMAIN SAD THIS INTERACTION I WOULD ENJOY CANNOT EVER BE.”

OOC Note on Horatio and All

As some of you who follow Horatio may have guessed, my last post for him is pretty much the end. I’ve been working toward this moment for awhile now and this was the final step.

I haven’t logged into the game more than once or twice in the past few weeks and I find I don’t miss it at all. In fact, the only thing that kept me coming back was Livinia and her story with Tio. Even that doesn’t do it for me anymore.

I won’t say I’m not coming back so I’ve kind of left most of my folks in a place where they can fade into memory and not affect anyone else’s story. Except Livi and for that I’m sorry. I’ve wrapped it up as best I could.

Anyone who wants to find Tristain and Morgana is free to take it up where I left off.

I’ve enjoyed my time with you folks. The RP was great and I think I made a few lasting friendships along the way.

The letter would come rolled up and tied to the leg of a raven who would tap its beak on Tio’s window one night when nobody else could see. It would be short and sweet and would read as follows.

Tio,

People in the Reach are antsy to find you. Especially your cousin Lux who feels that if they don’t find you that they may have another dead Larkspur on their hands. From the mouth who told me, this sounded like no jest, and in response to that one must wonder.

Who would scare Lux so bad? And who would go to such an extreme that you may potentially end up dead if you didn’t return?

I’m suspected purely because of our past arrangement. I could lie and say that I never have seen you since the bomb, and there’s no way they could prove that false other than by your word. Question is, do I stick my neck out for you?

Horatio eyed the raven, checking to make sure it was living before he took the letter from its leg. He scanned the page quickly and frowned.  He grabbed up a pen and paper and sat to write though he had to stop a few times to still the shaking in his hands.

 Egan,

You may tell them whatever you want. We will be leaving the city tomorrow anyway.

As for the who, I'm certain it’s Morgan. She has threatened me often enough before. The harpy doesn't scare me though Lux and Liv (the last name was heavily marked through) think she's all powerful.

I do not expect you to lie for me nor put yourself in danger on my account. I will take care of myself and my own.

I doubt we will see one another again. Take care of yourself and try to think fondly of me on occasion.

The letter addressed to Horatio Larkspur was returned unopened. He was not at any of his normal, listed addresses nor did any of his servants or family members know where he was was to be found. It was as if he and his four children had disappeared from the face of Tyria. 

The girl, Melanie, however remained with Livinia’s aunt.

Tagged. Lux did it!

1.            I grew up on horror flicks, a family night included B monster movies and Creature Feature, either on TV or at the drive in.

2.            I did past life regression hypnosis once; saw myself being burned at the stake for witchcraft. Years later my niece traced my father’s family tree. Turns out we have witches in the family…

3.            I am a card carrying member of Bat Conservation International. My love of bats started out as an extension of being goth then turned into a passion that carries over into all aspects of my life, I love educating people on the benefits of bats to the environment (some of you already know this). This year I’m going to a Bat Symposium!

4.            I’ve loved cemeteries ever since I was fifteen and visited the one of the country’s oldest cemeteries in Richmond, VA. I found the grave of a girl who had been fifteen when she died, had been born the same month and day I was born and shared my first name. I thought that was the coolest thing ever.

5.            I used to date the guy who did the sound effects and music for Half Life 2. He took me to a goth bar in Seattle called The Morgue. It had been an actual morgue at one time; the bar was made from the slabs that held the bodies. Another thing that I thought was coolest the thing ever.

6.            I make silk flower arrangements. I’ve done two weddings and hundreds of household arrangements. I used to harvest honeysuckle vines to make wreaths and I’ve collected seedpods, mushrooms, driftwood and other organic materials to incorporate in my designs.

  I guess these aren’t actually random since there seems to be a theme going here. As far as tagging others, I think everyone I know has already been tagged. But if you haven't been, consider yourself tagged now.

"Drink up, Tio darling."

Horatio walked into the Larspur manor after a night of drinking, first with Elessar, then Egan and then Noel. He spotted Lux sitting with a glass of something alcoholic in her hand and he swooped in to relieve her of the glass, “Hello dearest cousin.” he downed the booze and tossed the glass aside, glaring at the socialite.“I’m glad I caught you. I just wanted to say love… I’m sick of you’re backstabbing bullshit. If you don’t like that I’ve married Livi stop being nice to her while trying to drive a wedge between us. If you’re happy I married her then act like it.” 

He started to walk passed her then stopped, his boots crunching on the broken glass, “By the way darling, Love your hair.”

The socialite smiled at her cousin, reaching for the opened bottle of 1320 Ascalonian pinot noir and pouring a glass for each of them.

“I’m not backstabbing anyone.  I never said I didn’t like you marrying Livi, I was just sad I didn’t get to throw a wedding for you.  And honestly, darling cousin?  It’s not me that needs to be happy and act like it.   I’m not the one who’s married to her.  It’s you.  You’re the one the one who’s driving a wedge between the two of you, not me.  You’re the one who should be happy about your union.  Not me.  Who cares about what I think, I’m not part of your union.   So…stop projecting and start dealing with it.”

She flutters her lashes at him and casually slips a finger through one of her long, golden-honey colored tresses before holding her glass up.

“Cheers, darling.  And thanks for the compliment.”

Horatio dropped onto a sofa, taking the glass of wine and downing it far too quickly to appreciate the fine vintage. “You’re exactly right Luxie dearest. There isn’t a single reason I should care what you think. And I don’t actually.”

He waved his now empty glass at her, “As long as you keep supplying the good stuff I couldn’t care less what you say.”

She grinned at her cousin’s aloof attitude, slinking toward the couch he occupied and plopping down next to him with the hopes to snuggle with the fellow Larskpur, fine vintage wine bottle still in hand for future refills.

“Shhh, let’s just cuddle for now.  I’ve missed you, even if you think I don’t mean it.  And I don’t care if you do or don’t.  Only I’m responsible for my feelings…mmm?”

He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her against him, his chin perched on the top of her head, “Family cuddles are the best.” he paused for a moment then looked down with a smirk, “You should really lay off the cookies though darling.”

With all the comfort expected of a sibling, she snuggled deeper into the embrace, her own hands now wrapped around the other Larkspur’s torso.  At his snide comment, she scoffed, but then burst out into a giggle.

“So /fine/ yes!  I’ve put on a little weight in the last month or so.  All that stress eating from….everything happening.  I really should cut down on junk baked sweet stuff, though I’d imagine Lady Denton would be greatly disappointed.  Still,  I owe it to my body to stay in shape.  I worked so hard after Talia to get fit…”

Her words came to a halt as she considered Horatio’s own well-being.  She rested her temple against his chest, then whispered, “How are -you- doing? Truly?”

Horatio quirked a brow, peering down at the top of Lux’s head, “Truly? I think that’s the first time you’ve asked me that and meant it in ages. You must be getting soft in your old age.” He grinned at the scowl he imagined would be flitting across her features at his comment, “What could possibly be wrong? I broke my own golden rule and married, a woman of not quite sound mind no less. My cousin has absconded with my lover; the very same cousin who lost an arm in a violent attack on the family estate and also lost his beloved sister. My own sister is attempting to sabotage my marriage by introducing my wife to my parents. My brother hates me and... shall I go on? Ah yes, another cousin’s intended is trying to bed my wife. And I haven’t heard from darling little Lemon in ages. And then there’s you and the whirlwind of nefarious activity that always surrounds you like your favorite mantle.”

He shook his head and let out a low chuckle, “The saddest part dear Luxelen is, I think I’m the most normal Larkspur of the lot.”

Yarasa scowled at the note that was thrust in her hand as she directed the setup of cots and bedding for a handful of survivors of the blasts in the Western Commons. She raked her hand through her silvery white tresses as she glared at the piece of paper, as if it were responsible for all the damage done to undeserving people.

Finally she ripped the envelop open and read the missive inside, casting a glance toward the townhouse across the street. She knew that Lord Horatio Larkspur was missing but that it had nothing to do with the explosions that rocked the Commons only nights before. Still, Luxelen had been an acquaintance for some time and she felt an obligation to attend.

With a hurried hand she submitted her RSVP and then turned back to the task at hand; seeing that the people streaming into her home were comfortable and well provisioned. She’d made it clear that any who needed medical attention would do so and she would foot the bill.
