Mad for Mally
Thackery shrugged “Not a problem. I like that song a lot.” He blushed, almost wishing that he hadn’t said that. He played the opening riff for Mally, hoping he’d catch on. He hummed along to where the words would normally go and when the chorus came, he’d mouth the words. He closed his eyes and was absorbed into the music and lyrics, not realizing he’d begun to softly sing “If you’re wondering, if i want you to, I want you to~, so make a move, cause I ain’t got all night~”. When the song ended, he opened his eyes and realized what he had just said to the dormouse. His eyes widened and he blushed again “Your turn.” he whispered.
Mally felt a shift in the air as Thackery began to sing. He didn’t know what it was or why it was happening. It was just…different.
He thought for a moment, “Um.” He began. “Lovin’ is what I got. I said remember that. Lovin’ is what I got. I said remember that.” This was one of Mally’s favorite songs. The kind of song you can sit and stare up at the ceiling and listen to all day. Playing the guitar, especially playing this song, put the mouse into a sort of haze.
The door knob to the tea room jiggled as Tarrant glided on in.
The cup…
Tarrant went straight for the garbage can; he knew, he always knows. He picked the pieces from the trash, shook his head at Mally and waltzed out.
“Well. He seems broken up.” Mally winked at the hare as he laughed at his own joke.
Thackery felt so calm listening to Mally’s soothing voice. The dormouse was always so passionate about music that Thackery couldn’t help but find the beauty in it too.
He tried to hide the smirk at Mally’s joke. It shouldn’t be so funny, but he couldn’t contain the chuckle that came from his mouth. “Mally!” he chided. Laughing at Tarrant’s expense wasn’t in the hare’s nature, but the dormouse’s puns were his weakness.
He started fingering something out on the bass, but pulled his hand back, thinking better of it. He glanced up at Mally, making sure he hadn’t caught on. He tossed a few songs around in his head before finally deciding. He strummed the intro and sang a little of the lyrics in the beginning, but didn’t pipe back up until the chorus. “Well, I’m tired of pretending, But I’m terrified of it ending…” settling on just tapping his foot to the rest. Thackery whispered the last part “Don’t ever let it end.” not daring to look at Mally until the song was over. He warily eyed the dormouse, hoping his choice wasn’t too forward.
The mouse realized what was happening when Thackery eyed him after finishing the lyrics.
Oh...
He laughed nervously, "Oh. Um..." He shifted in his seat. Mally had feelings for the hare. He didn't know when or how they started. He kind of woke up one day, saw the hare walk by and just fell for him.
He was positive it's because of the way he looked when he played music. He wasn't this shy little hare anymore. He was just...Thackery.
Mally wasn't really awesome at expressing his emotions. In fact, he hardly ever told anyone how he really felt. So he'd have to rely on music for this one...
He began. Notes flying across the fret board.
"I want you to want me..."
When Mally was finished with the song, he didn't know what to do.
He b-lined it for the door without looking at the hare and headed straight for his room, his heart pounding. He had know idea what to do. He put his guitar back once he got in his room and just laid on his bed and stared up at the ceiling.
