Lisa’s class trip to New York was as she expected it to be, a bunch of teenagers acting wild while she was the only one listening to her teacher. She’d been to this city before, but her goal was always to learn something new every time she came. Two boys in her class started getting into a fight, and Lisa could tell this would take some time, so she decided to walk ahead on her own and take in everything. She was about to take a picture of a lounge that had signs for an open mic night when she heard the quiet sound of someone in pain coming from an alley behind her. She quickly turned and cautiously walked closer, peeking behind a dumpster that was providing cover for a girl who looked hurt. “Oh my god, are you ok?” she asked as she knelt down and started digging through her bag for her first aid supplies.
There were probably better places than the park, sitting atop a rock formation with the temperature in the mid thirties, to be trying to put together a new project, but it was really the type of thing that she’d wanted some breathing room if things went wrong. Which turned out to be a good call when, as she was etching the last series of runes onto the disk, the metal started to heat up rapidly.
Tossing the disk blindly, in a move she definitely hadn’t been able to pull off the last time her dad had found a frisbee, Ruby could only watch in horror as it sailed straight for another person before exploding in a cloud of ink. Jumping down from the rocks, she let her magic carry her to the other person as fast as she was able, already dreading what she’d see, “I am so sorry!!”
There was almost nothing Lisa loved more than reading under the shade of a tree in the park, she had just spent an hour doing just that when she got up to head back to the library to do some studying. She was making a mental list of what she wanted to study and in which order for that week when she heard the sound of something coming through the air at a high speed. Never the most athletically coordinated, she turned just in time for a cloud of ink to completely envelope her. She stood still in shock for a moment before wiping her eyes and staring at the person who came to apologize. “It’s...fine,” she forced herself to say. “Please tell me this will come out,” she pleaded.
Hey! I’m Tasha and here’s a little something about my girl Lisa~
name: lisa simpson
birthdate: may 9 1999
gender: cis female
pronouns: she/her
sexuality: bisexual
major: magical theory major, government minor
headcanons:
The first thing Lisa did when she learned magic was to create a small bag that was bigger on the inside so she could bring her saxophone anywhere she went.
Only her parents and siblings know where she is, the rest of the people they know think she’s at law school. Thankfully she knows enough to keep the ruse going when she visits home.
She found out about magic when she was 16 and ended up helping a magic user out of some trouble. She gave Lisa resources to learn and ever since, she has been studying it constantly.
Although Lisa loves magic and learning things that most of the world doesn’t know, she still often gets the feeling she should have gone to law school. This is the cause of a lot of anxiety in her life.
Lisa’s new dream is to find ways to use magic to heal the planet and wildlife on a vast scale and stop climate change.
bio:
Lisa has always found it hard to fit in with her peers, she was more interested in studying and going to libraries and museums than whatever was “cool” with others her age. Her closest friends were her mom and sister, her saxophone, and her cat Snowball. At a young age she developed anxiety that mostly revolved around her need to succeed academically. She put pressure on herself to never get anything below an A, and she didn’t know how to stop. She also tends to be pretty sarcastic, a trait she likes to think comes from her mother.
When she found out magic was real, Lisa could hardly contain her excitement. This was a whole new world of things to learn, and magic had been a central theme in all her favourite childhood books. She studied everything she could get her hands on, but when she found there was an entire magical school she could apply to, her anxiety came flooding back. This could be the chance of a lifetime for her to go somewhere where people actually had to have loved learning the material to get in, a place where she might not feel like such an outsider. But ever since she was little she had dreamed of going to law school and one day becoming the first female president.
All her life she had been practical, making the smart choices so that her life wouldn’t be derailed, but now her heart was pulling her towards something stronger than her head was. Even a couple of years into her schooling, she still has panic attacks wondering if she made the right choice. Her mother was the first to know where she was going, she trusted her with anything, and then her little sister. About a year into her schooling, they realized her father and brother had to be let in on it too or they would get curious and blow the whole secret trying to figure it out. Going home to visit is always stressful for Lisa, she is constantly worried something will slip from one of her family members when they run into neighbours.
