Group shot of my #emperorschildren - next up proper 30k ones!
Always been a really pretty Bridge, but lit up for #christmas, it’s even better — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/2PedOGC
Final one of my mid-change #emperorschildren . I wish I had finished the squad but I ended up co-opting the remaining bodies to fill out my space Wolf squads. One day I would like to add a sergeant to the squad but I’ve never thought what he should look like...
I found that the pink really worked on the mark 6 helmets. This one was actually a really old RTB01 helmet I had lying around for 30 years!
I love the contrail in the sky, it just looks like an arrow shot between the buildings. — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/2Li5YL1
I learnt so much from these Emperors Children. It was the first time I had done line highlight like this, previously I preferred shading flat colour, rather than lights. I used to strong a final colour and I was too keen on making the lines perfect initially, rather than cleaning them up after - it produced a worse result. I do really love this colour scheme - the big pink panels against black is really eye catching - I think only a chapter like the Howling Griffins has as much visual impact. Few more to go before I get to my 30k emperors children...
Mid change Emperors Children. I’ve never been fond of the Chaos troops, other than certain models the aesthetic never appealed to me - however pre-heresy Emperors Children did. Back when I made these the #horusheresy books didn’t exist and #forgeworld only made imperial Guard tanks - so I made these - my take on a crossover point between loyalist and traitor - parts of both, but still looking clean, if only a little spikey - more to come!
First line highlight - shadow grey (again old colours). I’ve kept this quite simple, rather than picking out all the details in multiple colours, I find it keeps the model unified.

Timing can be everything, 30 seconds later this sky was gone. #sunset — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/2Y4jXcI
So big step this time, the face has been worked up through the flesh colours, the sword arm and backpack have been added, additional brown ink shading had been added to the silver parts. Little details like the purity seal have been done in red.
Black Templar Marshal - complete. Final line highlights tidied, base completed. Present for my much younger brother.
Final view of the Black Templar Marshal - finished model tomorrow.
Black Templar Marshal stage 2 - the cloth has been worked up to bleach bone with brown ink shading (oh how I wish I had used the newer washes!) The silver had been initially highlighted with chain mail. The sword is still left off so I can get to the cloth and armour more easily.
Black Templar Marshal - I tried out numerous chapters before settling on Crimson Fists, but I really enjoyed painting this marshal. I just can’t stand line highlighting black over and over again. This used old paints, beastial brown for the robes and bolt gun metal for the silver parts. I’ll post stage 2 later.
Imperial Fists test tactical marine - after this and one more test, I went for Crimson Fists instead!
