Happy Birthday to M(e)arco
After his birthday tradition of singing and dancing around his room to “Happy Birthday to Me” by the Vandals, he swung open his door and was practically jumping down the stairs. He looked around to try to find someone.
“Hellllloooo? Anyone here? It’s my birthday ya know?” Marco pouted slightly as he continued to search for someone. “I want a hug dang it. I NEED EIGHTEEN HUGS SOMEONE GET OVER HERE.” He yelled and continued his search.
Polo could hear the birthday boy hopping around his room and conducting the usual birthday ritual—as if it were some kind of upmost cult importance. Sighing to himself, he flipping through the pages of a book he’d read nearly a hundred times, finger only gracing the braille coded insides to find his favorite parts. It wasn’t that he wasn’t excited for him, it’s just the last time he didn’t let him conduct his ritual in private, he’d accidentally been hit in the face by a dancing Marco; it was on accident of course, but he’d learned his lesson.
As soon as the door to the bedroom swung open, he dropped the book and slowly pushed himself off the couch. With one quick swipe, he managed to grab his cane and make his way toward the stairs. The only reason he stopped was when he could hear the distressed calls of the lone hugging bird, wishing to find its first prey.
“Hey, birthday boy, why don’t you try looking in the right direction?” He called over to him, back leaned up against a wall.
Marco spun around with a huge smile on his face. He took a few steps and scooped up Polo off of the ground in a huge hug before putting him down on the ground and continuing his hug.
“Yep this is okay.” He sighed happily and nuzzled his nose into Polo’s neck. Marco had always been into hugs and cuddles and just having some sort of contact with a human. He always used his birthday as an excuse to get even more than he already did on a daily basis.
The feeling of being scooped right off the ground and wall surprised Polo, to say the least. “Woah! Woah!” He called out, laughter escaping his mouth even though he didn’t necessarily enjoy the surprise. By now he should be used to this kind of treatment, yet he still found it taking him off guard when Marco did these kinds of things. Maybe he should hire a body guard to keep him from doing it without him getting a fair warning!
“You sure it’s okay? I could grow a few inches, because I’m sure your back must hurt from having to lean down so far,” he joked, voice having no harsh undertones. He reached his arms up and wrapped them around Marco’s neck to keep the hug going, even if he wasn’t sure if it was comfortable for the taller male. “Happy birthday, you hugging skyscraper.”
“Nonsense. You are the perfect height.” Marco chuckled into Polo’s neck. He nuzzled up to his ear. “I can’t imagine you a different height. You are literally so perfect.”
Marco brought his hands to the side of Polo’s face and kissed him lightly. “And thank you.”
