You slept.
      But something was wrong,
as you would toss and turn and open your eyes, emptiness completely filling the space around you. Dreams were lined with memories and the feeling of your chest bursting on itself, of visions and images of an unfamiliar world in a dustbowl.
Now, this sleep was different. Sat in a bathtub with tap running slow, knife slowly twirling between your fingers as your vision faded from color to darkness and back again, you could feel fingers tug at your consciousness and grip around your throat like hungry claws, searching for something to steal.
Heights wouldn't do any good. Burning was slow, and brought up bad memories. But your mind was put to a   lull         at the slow trickle of water, and how slowly the water below you would bloom    brightÂ
                              red.
And like a candle that hasn't been tended to
flickering and threatening darkness
you
> burn out.
