A quiet snicker escaped his lips at the other’s reaction. “You should give it all a break for at least a day, and have at least a bit of fun, or something like that. Something to distract you from these duties of yours. It’s healthier.”

   Violet eyes narrowed for but a second. Whether it was due to the snicker from the blonde or the words he spoke, Oswald was not sure. His expression calmed given a few moments and his lips parted to speak, tone soft and monotone as per usual. "You make it sound easy." Tugging his cloak around himself, Oswald shook his head. "I would have never imagined such a thing could be considered healthier." Or perhaps he was too stubborn not to leave his rule for even one day.

"well, happy birthday? Don’t tell me you forgot, Oswald." The blond looked at the other with confused expression.

   A struggled mumble escaped the noir, almost as if he was fighting himself with a rather important choice in response. Eventually he gave a shake of his head and sighed. "I did not forget..." Almost true. "Thank you, Jack."

   --- "Mm?" Oh, right, it was his birthday. He was good at forgetting such things-- never truly understood what the big deal was.

   --- He was certain there was something he should have done today...

       Lazily, she lets her fingers comb through the sides his hair, push his bangs out of his eyes and pull back tousled raven locks of hair. His response makes the woman giggle, the sound gentle and care free like a wind chime. 

    “Thank goodness indeed.” 

    Smiling, the woman feels his hand rest upon her own lowered one, and she soon laces their fingers together. It’s been a long while, since they’ve had this kind of sentiment. In a way, she longed for it, keeping it near her breast at night as the darkness tucked her in and the Abyss read her bedtime stories. 

    “My day? Rather boring until now. I suppose you can say nothing’s really held my interest, until seeing you sitting here all frazzled, brother.”

        The touches to his hair was so soothing that he did not have the heart to brush the affection off. His sister's odd ways in expressing her fondness or fascination was still something the man was trying to figure out even to this day. His own sister... still such a mystery to him.

                           "Frazzled is not quite how I would put it."     The faintest trace of a pout --perhaps even a sulk-- could be noted in the noir's words. With his hand now linked with his sister's, he raised it to his cheek and sighed softly. Yes, such moments as these were not often shared. Perhaps because Oswald could not handle the struggle that would surely come in the near future. Memories would likely be the ideal thing to create before they were to depart, yet he was simply scared to take on such pain.                                                               ...How selfish.

  "I would imagine you would have chosen Master Glen's company to mine."

     No response was truly needed in her mind. She closed her eyes, a peaceful smile on her lips as she took in the melody. The notes her brother played so tenderly, they struck her as notes of parting. Humming the tune, she lightly wrapped her arms around her brother’s shoulders, a show of happy affection. Lacie held a great fondness for time spent with Oswald, whether it was filled with teasing or lovely calm. She treasured being close to him.

     Sounds from the piano were picked up by her heart and dropped into her throat, coming together to create the melody. And slowly, simple humming became vocalization as she parted her lips, her voice coming together with the notes her brother released from the piano keys. She swayed, careful to not interrupt his playing with her movement. Content, was what she was.

   Such a lack of words was the perfect addition to such a moment shared together. Long, thin fingers continued to play against each key. Gloved finger pads struck each note with powerful intention, yet the melody remained that to a soothing serenade no matter what the pace his hands may have moved. Lacie's voice only made it worth hearing in Oswald's opinion. Vague thoughts of having to play melodies without his sister were hard to think about. Funny how the hardest thoughts were always the ones to play like a broken record in one's mind over and over until it became true. Should he ever come to sit before the instrument after Lacie was gone, he would not know where to start. 

   The melody was no stranger and thus Oswald was content enough to close his violet eyes and lean back into Lacie's touch. The tune continued to play just as steadily as it had to begin with. Being guided solely by his sister's voice, Oswald was able to continue playing so long as she could bring that enthusiasm and care to make it so. Oh, he would be so lonely without her.

          He only glanced at the ravennete silently then slid his gaze back to the glass. Such unpleasant feelings and thoughts, Levi certainly didn’t want to let his mind dwell on them unnecessarily. Lacie and him, they had been preparing for their fate ever since they were little but this didn’t mean they were perfectly alright with it, right? 

                                                               ”Not really.”                                                      He took a sip of his wine.                                             ”Why don’t you take a seat as well?”

   The small moments of silence was nothing new. Perhaps it would serve as uncomfortable to others, but Oswald was rather content in peaceful situations rather than abrupt and noisy situations- much like what was coming from downstairs earlier. It was true that their fate had been laid out before them all, but it never seemed to make it any easier to bear with. How could anyone be perfectly alright with such a thing?

                                                          "..."                   Silence was indeed his response before he moved forward to take the spot beside his master on the couch. Pale hands continued to cradle the bottle to his chest as violet eyes simply stared ahead.                                "Its quiet now. I believe everyone's gone."
