So, how hard do you think it would be if someone wanted to take a look around Hogwarts? Just for curiosities sake.
“I would imagine it’s rather hard, Unless you had connections and knew secret passage ways and what not.”
“For you to stop sleeping on the bench.”
“Why? Is it your bench? There are other, go sit on one of those.”
Mal stirred slightly on the bench she was laying on, mumbling as someone tried to wake her. “It’s saturday and I don’t feel like moving, what do you want?”
Tonight was one of the few nights she wasn’t working, so that meant Katrina had put herself on patrol. Of course, in theory this meant she was supposed to look for students out of bed, but mostly Kat just looked for trouble and left the rest alone. It kept her goodwill among the other students. So as she approached the dark shape, Kat couldn’t help the small snort of laughter. “All right I won’t. My lips are sealed.”
Malinda smirked as she looked up. “I should have known it was you.” She leaned back on the steps and chuckled lightly. “So is this your idea of a patrol or are you you just giving up on your head girl responsibilities?”
“Oh, it’s not that,” replied Alice, her head turned as far as it could, bent at the waist as she tried to read the cover. “I was merely curious what you were reading so intently.”
Mal lifted the cover so that Alice could read it, “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Why? Did you want to borrow it?” She tilted her head at the girl.
Jane had been in the forest again - all weekend. Which wasn’t unlike her in the least, and no one really seemed to ever notice she disappeared a lot. She came out of the forest, aking a mental list of everything she needed to do before classes the next day; out loud. Though from the corner of her eye, she noticed another just sitting in the cold and reading, so she approached her. “Now, why would I ever stop one from reading something? That doesn’t seem productive in my opinion.” Smiling, she had taken a small, warm blanket out and draped it around the others’ shoulders. “Thats beter, though, is it not? You best be wrapping up soon, though, because curfew takes into effect in another hour or so, and I really don’t want to have to come back around here and do the Prefect thing.”
Malinda looked up for a moment as the blanket was placed around her but then returned to reading, a smirk appearing on her face. “Says the Prefect who sneaks into the forbidden forest even though it’s... forbidden.” Side glancing over at her, she chuckled, “But if you insist, as soon as I am done, I will head in.”
Phillip had gone out for a walk around the grounds before bed, and hadn’t expected to find anyone out there, but then he noticed a student, and approached her cautiously; one can never be too careful. When she spoke, he chuckled softly, and cleared his throat. “Well you know what, normally I’d abide by that request, but I’m a professor now, and I have to make sure you don’t miss curfew.”
Malinda had recognized the voice as soon as he spoke, “Oh, but professor, I have until midnight and I always abide by the curfew.” She lifted her head to smile up at him, though there was a small hint of sarcasm behind it. “Besides, you know a lot of students here don’t bother with it. You were one once.”
“It’s ok.” Fauna responded, stealing another glance sideways at the girl. She found herself growing curious what the girl was so engrossed in reading, but didn’t want to pry. She knew how frustrating it was when people asked questions you didn’t want to answer. “I’m fine. It’s been a long month. But..now it’s fall and everything is better. Whatcha reading?” Yet again she couldn’t stop herself from blurting out the very thing she was trying to hold back.
Fine, a word that never meant what it should. Mal closed her book, leaning back onto the step behind her. “Autumn always makes everything feel better. Could be the cool breezes or the calming colours of the trees painted across the landscape.” Her eyes fell down to the book in her lap as she reached for it and held it up, “The strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.”
Night after night, Fauna found herself unable to stand the stifling castle and the dungeon common room she called her home. Sure Hogwarts was her home, but a part of her felt entirely unsettled in its halls this year. Finding that she could scarcely breath one night, she hurried through the halls towards the nearest exit. Once outside in the crisp autumn air, she breathed deeply and felt a weight lift she had grown far too accustomed to.
However a voice drew her from her self absorption and Fauna looked to the side to spot a girl reading on the steps despite the chill in the air and the fading sunlight. “I’m not interested in telling you what to do. Just…need a little air.” She turned away from the girl, a bit upset that her desperately needed moment of privacy was over.
Malinda tilted her head up to actually look at the girl. “Sorry, I thought you were someone else.” She could understand the need for a little air. Though it was a very large castle, it had a tendency to make one feel closed in, especially if you far from any exit. “Are you okay?”
Having nothing to do and nowhere to be, Malinda found this the perfect time to just relax with one of her books. She didn’t know how long she had been sitting out side but it had started to get cold and she could see her breath over the pages. She didn’t stop read though, even when she felt someone approach her. “Don’t bother trying to get me to go inside. I know it’s dark and late but I can take care of myself.” She spoke, her eyes still scanning over the pages.

I apologize for the lack of theme right now but I'm at work and can't quite do much until I get home later.
