“maybe a little but i wouldn’t personally cancel you.” margot’s not sure what his role would be but it’d be fun having him around. “well it feels worth asking, seems like everyone is leaving!”

“i would try to fix it for you! but hopefully i won’t need to.” no tears yet, which seemed like a good sign to her. “thank you for believing in me,” bea laughed. “that sounds fun! do you have any idea of where you might go?” it could be nice if they were anywhere near each other. “i’m gonna go home for a while and just spend time with my mom and grandmother. then i’m going travel with mira a bit, i’m not sure where to yet, and then i’m going to italy by myself.” 

“that’s okay, maybe the crying look would be fashionable!” margot imagines lots of people will be crying tonight anyway. “uh, not sure. we usually go to disneyland paris over the summer just because it’s close by, but we could go anywhere really.” margot perks up at that. “italy! alone! that sounds so exciting. if you feel like coming to france, we have tons of room in our house.”

“A little on the nose for us, but it is Pride next month, so I think we’re allowed,” Priya laughs, the sound only morphing into an endeared to hear Margot so serious about snacks. “Ah, young love. So fickle and so mysterious…,” she sighs with fake dramatics, holding up a cupcake to the light like it’s a skull in Hamlet before bringing it back down and taking a bit bite off the side. “I’m just glad you know now. You seem really happy with Juno,” she grins, nudging her with an elbow.

“i don’t need pride month as an excuse, i do what i want anyone.” as long as it’s related to being gay at least. margot isn’t exactly a rule breaker so much as she just... frequently forgets the rules. “okay, you sound like my mum when she’s being dramatic. which means you’re just being dramatic.” margot likes being dramatic though, it’s fun. “thanks, i am! you and mary are totally all over each other which i absolutely love for both of you.”

“When you decide to channel your rage into something, tell me so I can watch.” Everyone had their switch. She was pretty sure Margot’s was buried deep deep down, but Ria could dream. “Which snacks? Champagne snacks? We can do sips and cheers.” That wasn’t a snack Ria! “Mmmm… I think that’d only be until midnight then you’d be back? No more calling me old then.” A pout. “We do know that. Satan and I are buddies.”

“that would imply the existence of rage in the first place,” margot says with a giggle. “no, like, actual snacks i can eat, but champagne to wash them down works for me!” that’s absolutely what she’s referring to. she won’t push the issue but if ria ever did actually push her, margot would probably get mad for the first time ever! “yeah? what’s he like?”

      𝚠𝚑𝚒𝚕𝚎  𝚓𝚞𝚗𝚘  𝚠𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍  like  to  believe  she’s  traveled  to  paris  enough  to  know  some  not-so-touristy  places  ,  she  always  appreciates  margot’s  insight  .  “  well  it  might’ve  taken  a  while  but  you  got  there  !  so  at  least  she  won’t  have  to  worry  anymore  ,  ”  she  lets  out  a  light  laugh  .  “  you  know  where  we  need  to  go  ?  LA  .  i  heard  they’ve  got  one  of  the  best  street  racing  scenes  out  there  ,  ”  she  points  out  with  a  nod  .  “  anyways  !  ”  suddenly  claps  her  hands  .  “  i  did  not  petition  for  a  photobooth  at  this  event  for  it  to  go  to  waste  so  let’s  go  take  some  pictures  !  ”

“she’s just dramatic, i’m so young! i had all the time in the world.” though margot is fairly certain she’s found her forever person now, so really there was no need to rush. she doesn’t regret the years of not realizing how she felt about juno, none of them were wasted because she’d still been margot’s best friend. “oh yes! i haven’t gone to LA nearly enough for someone who’s studied in america for so long.” not that she particularly loves america or anything she’s just familiar with it. “let’s do it,” she says brightly, taking her girlfriend’s hand and heading toward the photo booth.”

The loud elation in the way Margot calls her name back makes a bright smile spread on her face, followed quickly by a giggle as she returns the hug and squeezes her friend in return. “Alright, lemme lead you to the food, because I think we both need it, and hopefully by the time Juno gets back, I can find Mary and we can all get in front of a camera,” Priya grins, looping her arm through Margot’s as she makes her way to the snacks. “Please, I have been telling you all year that you’re a catch, I’m just glad someone else finally wised up and caught on to it too!”

“oh, a lesbian group photo, i love that energy.” margot thinks they should probably print out a copy and frame it for scott as like, her favorite lesbian ally. “i’m never too drunk to forget where the food is, don’t worry,” she says seriously, already starting off toward the snack table for the millionth time tonight. “i didn’t necessarily disagree, i just didn’t like anyone like that! well, obviously i liked juno like that i just didn’t know.”

“You’re mad that I got it right! You can’t take it back,” Ria grinned over at her friend. “Who knows, you could have been full by now?” Yeah, not on a night like this. It was easy to ignore the fullness in favor of trying and sipping on everything. “Are snacks cute in the photo booth? After.” The blonde nodded, “Not old, don’t make me push you.” She would, no shame! “Bold of you, well, wave to me from up there because we know I am going to hell.” Easily let the other drag her to the photo booth.

“definitely not mad now or pretty much ever,” margot says with an incredulous sort of laugh, because that just doesn’t sound like her. “true, but i’m definitely not.” she gets hungrier when she drinks anyway. “they could be!” at least she thinks so. “if you pushed me i wouldn’t talk to you for the rest of the night so your choice.” margot does actually mean that, she’ll only tolerate so much. “do we know that?”

“oh, very true, tourists never know about my favorite spots.” not that margot minds living in a popular tourist destination, but it’s nice to have places that are a bit more exclusive to locals. “my mum is going to be absolutely thrilled, she’s convinced herself i was just going to be alone forever because i never notice when i have feelings.” considering it’d taken this long with juno. “then i’ve got your back. it’s great, and yes, i’m totally biased.”

“Looking good, hot stuff!” she calls to her friend, and throws her a wink when she manages to catch her eye. “Where’s Juno? I’ve got to see the two of you next to each other— I’m fully prepared to faint,” Priya teases, but she does want to see the dates and maybe snap a photo or two altogether. “Look at us, showing up to the shindig with girlfriends on our arms. We clean up pretty well, don’t we?”

“priyaaaaaaaa!” margot says like, wayyyy too loudly as she runs up and envelopes her friend in a hug. she’s drunk on champagne and probably love and definitely sugar. “she’s in the bathroom i think, i was gonna get a snack.” she’s absolutely thrilled that the both of them ended up with girlfriends and that it’s not weird. “i know! how’d we do that? well i know how you did it but what about me?!” mostly a joke.

“You want to go get more snacks after,” Ria nodded, matter of factly. If it was wrong, hopefully it’d spark something that would make Margot want more snacks. It was a good bet. “Stop it because you’re not, if you’re old, I’m old, and I’m too hot to be old.” Duh. “I shouldn’t be punished for men and their idiocy, rude!” How was it her fault. “Lead the way.”

“that doesn’t count, i’m always thinking about snacks.” especially at parties when there are lots of really yummy ones that are special and themed. “can we get snacks right now?” she will anyway, but it’ll be more fun with ria. “old people can be hot, we’re proof of it.” again, they’re not. “i didn’t say you were definitely going to hell, just that i’m definitely going to heaven,” she points out with a giggle. she grabs ria’s hand and starts toward the photo booth, clearly excited.

“are there enough of us? i should’ve started a lesbian club, it’s not too late i guess.” margot has no reason to leave. “yeah! are you?”

“yeah, always, but especially tonight!” everyone looks a little extra ethereal tonight, in margot’s opinion. “i have very smushable cheeks, so feel free.” she reaches up, giving cori’s cheeks a little smush as promised. “we’re both pretty!”

“Yes.” Duh! As fickle as she was, Ria was good at reading people and body language. That had to mean something, right? “See, that’s what I like to hear. I’ll be good to go tomorrow for graduation.” A little concealer and good-as-new. “That’s an easy route to sainthood,” she snorted. “Yes! Duh. Is that even a question?”

“noted, okay, what am i thinking right now?” margot’s not entirely sure she’s thinking about anything in particular, so good luck to ria. “i can’t believe this will be my last graduation as a spectator, i’m so old.” she’s not, but it feels that way. “it’s our compensation for men.” this is very logical in her opinion. “it is, and you’ve given me the right answer, so let’s go!”

“It’s not putting words in your mouth when I know what you want to say, Margie!” Ria argued. She liked to think she could predict what the other would say. “Trust me, I’ll be fine. When does it not work out?” The path to get there usually bumpy, but always ending up back in her bed. “You’re more saintly than I am.” Low bar. “Can we take pics? We have to.”

“so you’re a mind reader now?” margot teases lightly. good luck to anyone trying to read margot’s mind, not even she fully comprehends what’s going on in there. “i have complete faith in you.” and margot does mean that! if she tried to drink the way ria can, she’d probably just explode or something. “all lesbians go to heaven.” or something like that. “yeah, of course! wanna use the photo booth?”

“it’s not a lie, it’s an... i forgot how many drinks i’ve had.” kind of true. “i will, don’t worry! i don’t wanna like, be dying during graduation tomorrow. wanna remember my friends walking.”
