I once saw this AU where at the end of a neutral route, Flowey convinces Clover to give him their soul, and Flowey reanimates Clover's body with it and encourages them to kill monsters. Can't find it anymore, but I'm curious what it'd be like in your style.

I'm honored by your curiosity!! ^_^ Had to sit and stew on this one a while. It sounded a bit familiar to me too, but I might be melding together various "Flowey reanimates Clover after death" and "Clover gives Flowey their soul" AUs :|c

First of all, ain't no way Flowey's giving them that soul back for free. So he took a bite out of it for insurance :) This makes Clover weak and also Not Mentally Well in general. As for how Flowey convinced Clover...nothing an incalculable amount of psychological torture can't make them do, I'm sure.

This is where killing monsters comes in. And because this is a Neutral route, Clover is already open to and has killed at least one monster before. Flowey would make sure they remember that much. So what's a little more? It's for their own sake, after all. They certainly can't keep going on with a broken soul. Do they want to die again?

Clover avoids the Dunes though. They don't want to see their friends (or what's left of them, anyway).

This inevitably leads to a lot of moral rot I would think. Even if Clover could kill enough monsters to make up for what Flowey stole from them (and they never will), they will never be whole again. Martlet's gone. They would never be welcomed anywhere. Flowey won't even let them die. But this is for themself, isn't it? A second chance to fulfill what they almost gave up on? If they can get strong enough, maybe they can finally complete their mission (and shoot Flowey in the face for everything he's done to them).

They're not really sure sometimes. All they know is that they're tired.

Isn't it so cool how Undertale is about accepting the future and moving on and change and growth and how the only way out is through anyway why is your idea of "saving" Asriel/Flowey reverting him to his original self?

Asriel Dreemurr is Flowey. Flowey is Asriel Dreemurr. You have to accept that he's been changed and damaged and love him anyway.
