When Cara saw that the mysterious stranger was actually someone she had met before, she felt somewhat relieved. That desperate sinking feeling still sat heavy upon her chest, but she was ever so slightly more at ease in the company of someone she already knew. Pushing forward a small smile, Cara tucked a stray chocolate brown wave behind her ear and nodded her head slowly. “Typical, eh, locking yourself out.” She teased, her accent growing somewhat stronger the longer she was away from home.
“I’m just out… taking my thoughts for a walk.” Cara commented. It wasn’t much of a lie, but she couldn’t exactly tell him that the real reason was out was because the panic that set in deep within her gut was causing her to lose sleep. “So, you’re just gonna hang out outside? You should, at least, I don’t know, get some coffee in the cafe or something…”
Matty smiled down at the small girl. It was weird circumstances to see her again, but pleasant all the same. “Yeah, it seems like I’m always forgetting something. Or a lot of somethings.” He furrowed his brows, his head shaking from side to side.
“A walk? It’s freezing out. Do you want my jacket?” He asked, beginning to pull it off before she answered. It was the right thing to do, Matty knew that, even if it meant freezing himself. “I could, but I don’t have my wallet. So no coffee for me.”
