what i mean by that is when you’re writing something (wether it’s completely original, an au ,or whatever ) do y’all ever just do something Mindlessly that ends up being absolutely fucking genius

I’ll take my socksfor1 and his group x Homestuck au as my example

as my characters are based on real people to varying levels, i have to give them typing quirks (since they’re all hs trolls) that i think match the individual they’re inspired by

and their blood colors are based on their actual zodiacs, I technically have 3 fuchsias (Allie, laffngas, and fatmemegod)

but since laff disappeared off the net for a few years (and is now back) , i wanted to be respectful and not include him (this was originally a collaborative project with another s41 fan,, who ended up being problematic and they wanted to include him before he came back to the net)

The troll based off the creator “fatmemegod” has his typing quirk simply be replacing “e” with “3” (originally thought so he could match with his now ex moirail)

The reason i Hussied myself with memegod is that he is the youngest fuchsia of the 3 in my layout (you can probably see where this is going)

and every now and then i re realize that and just have to laugh at myself for how unintentional his quirk is

am i ever going to change it?? No, it’s hilarious

I’ve been into Hiveswap since middle school and one thing i am GENUINELY surprised i haven’t seen anyone try to explore is “what if XEFROS was the paranoid/schizophrenic/ rebellion leader, and HE was sheltering DAMMEK” i feel like this should have been done a WHILE ago but i haven’t seen anything

i’ll try to work out some ideas for this little swapswap idea

one thing that bothers me a bit is how xefros is portrayed a bit but it's mostly in joxef

i personaly dont ship them anyway, but i see mtf xefros so commonly intertwined with that ship

i personaly dont like that hc either.. i've heard someone argue that "doc scrach goes for girls" (paraphrasing) but that could easily get disproved/debunked by Xefros simply being sheltered from a lot of things and therefore easier to manipulate. even with that thought in mind logically scratch has have had to try manipulating ONE boy at least before focusing solely on girls (also he has literally said that he's a boy so that hc goes against canon. which is another thing i don't like)

on to my main point. i don't like how two-dimensional he gets portrayed a lot.. like YES he is a sweetheart but NO joey wouldn't be a better moirail than dammek (i think she's be worse actually). moirails are supposed to push you into a better version of yourself and comfort you when you need them, i don't think joey is doing much for either qualification.. only thing she pushes is just her insistence that Xef should break up with dam without even trying to THINK about giving dam any sort second chance or trying to understand things from Xefs perspective!!!!!! my second hand (not moirail jfyi) that i talk to about this pointed out how Joey is bad at admitting fault and i really don't think xefros needs someone like that in his life. don't get me wrong XefMek is also a very flawed relationship and that shouldn't be swept under the rug but one thing dammek has is that he does his best to protect xefros and keep him safe. is he good at it??? depends on the situation, but we also need to keep in mind he's schizophrenic and so that blur of reality is clearly impacting his ability to be the best moirail he can. i believe he was better when he was younger and his symptoms hadn't kicked in yet!!!!

as for the comfort part of my moiraillegence simplification (yes i got side tracked) it's off screen but the whole stress crying scene...i feel like it should have been on screen.. cause troll tears are tinted by color unlike human tears, so logically that should freak joey out a little. but how does she react to such a moment with an alien she barely knows.. would she try to comfort him cause he's upset or is she just... letting it happen with no interference????? if she were to comfort him, would he let her????? cause he's still in a pale relationship with dammek so logically if he'd let her he's basically cheating and i don't think he would do that. Could have really explored somethings with that.

I want to point out a few things from act 1 that I’ve noticed that I don’t think people have talked about

firstly; the pizza picture on tritohs 2nd floor of his hive wall was taken in his hive

Second thing I want to mention is DAMMEKS WRITING and how de-coding them can give us a small peice of evidence for his typing quirk

and lastly, i want to draw your attention to this drawing on Dammeks fridge (it’s blurry, but i think it’s still coherent)

i have noticed more things in act 1 of HIVESWAP That people don't talk about (also apologies for clunky wording in the original, not corecing it tho✌️)

tetrarchs fridge has bullet holes (they don't go all the way through tho, somehow)

Xefs headphones look like sunflowers and his handwriting looks "girly" (if that makes sense). i feel like that along with something in act two, could tell us some things about how dammek might have tried to shield xefros from some thing. to me at least, it feels like Dammek might have tried to prolong Xefs child like wonder. if that makes sense (probably because of what the rebellion has done to himself, and not wishing that on his beloved moirail). this of course has some side effects/ consequences. (more on this in "things i've noticed in act two")

i've seen a few xefmek drawings around the "the tetrach says he likes it when i smile X:)" but nothing about these two

Saw someone use this line for a xefmek drawing and had to check if kt was real or not (it is).it also makes it so obvious that Xefs red-crush IS Dammek (cause I’ve seen one person say “that would be too obvious “ as if we’re not talking about XEFROS) i’m not saying this is inherently a 100% good thing, BUT technically we don’t fully know on the scale of 1-20 how frequently “bad” their relationship is, if it’s always been that way, ect. Like we know nothing about em from around the beginning. Isn’t the earliest thing we know is that “when we were 5 sweeps dammek fell out of a tree and chipped a fang. It’s pretty cute but he hates it when i tell him that”?? So yeah, I’d need more details on how they were when they were younger PLUS a timeline of when Dams edgyness started and all that (i AM being hopeful, so what!?)

this singular thought contradicts basically the entirety of act 2, if she somehow gets back to earth before dammek goes home, that could go really wrong for her

I think it's really funny how the practice of bleeping out profanity is not only completely ineffective as a censorship tool, it's had the opposite effect of creating an environment where it's ridiculously easy to edit apparent profanity into footage that doesn't actually contain it. Like you can just grab any audio or video clip and bleep out anything and people will automatically mentally insert profanity in there it fucking rules.

IRON LUNG SPOILERS

okay so this weekend was a local convention for me and it's hosted in the movie theater building (so we get movies for "free") so i have finally seen IRON LUNG and W O W i loved it (couldn't watch the entire thing cause bus schedules but i saw most of it) iron lung was also my first horror/ scary movie!! i would absolutely watch it again in full!! tw for those who haven't watched it: claustrophobia , breef blood throw up ,and flashing lights

i really like how it leans into feelings of claustrophobia and vertigo and after the half way mark our character Simon basically goes into a psycosis episode and i love how as the viewer we're also kinda not able to tell what's real and what's not for a while along side him

i love all the little details of the psycosis episode ; like how the communication light DOESNT blink or that near the end there are notable voices overlapping its all just so incredible, and how he starts trying to make sense of everything but it's also not making sense for him either (kinda reminded me of Dammeks notes in his basement, but that's hiveswap) and once he snaps out of it/ wakes up (??) he thought she wasn't real either (i forgot her name) but he got proven wrong

also him being WELLDED IN (welded? ) but he STILL thought he could get out after he completed his task, talk about HOPE

i watched it with some fresh friends from the con so the only part i missed was when the submarine ACTUALLY filled with blood (saying actually cause there was the fake thing earlier in the movie that i DID see) so if someone somehow has that scene pretty pretty pretty please gimme
