Standard Deck Tech: Mono-White Servos
[you can see every deck tech here]
Hello & welcome to this weekly deck tech! This week we’re scouring through standard, a format filled with Aetherwork Marvels, Vehicles & Delirium. I wanted to find a deck that wasn’t too janky but was still interesting enough to be worth talking about. I thought about doing something similar to the Abzan Tokens list from the pro tour, but something feels off about it…in the end I decided to go with a deck I was playing a few months ago that just got better: Mono-White Servos.
Heart of the Deck
This is the pillar of the deck, this is what brings it to the next level. Without this card the deck generates a decent amount of tokens to have a good defence against most decks and can potentially overwhelm your opponent. But with this card on the field, and if you can even get 2 down, this deck goes out of control and generates so much value!
Sort of a Combo
I’ve tried building a deck with the 3 modules a few months ago (when Kaladesh released) and it wasn’t too great. I mean, if I were to curve out and play the 3 modules, then it was super sweet and no one could do anything about it, but that’s a big “if”…in this case though this card can be really good without harming the general build of the deck. Just play 1 or 2 of these as well as the next card and you get 100% value!
50% Lord 50% Combo
This sweet little lord pumps up all your servos and just happens to combo with Animation Module. In the end you can pay X to get X servos basically. Oh and they all come with +1/+1 counters on them! Even without the module this card is super sweet and really makes your tokens huge!
100% Lord
This really cool reprint basically just pumps up your board. Not much to talk about here, it’s really just a good card in here and makes your little guys into massive threats.
110% Lord
This card is like the previous, but better. On top of pumping up your team, you can pay 4cmc to create some more servos! If you have a token doubler on the field this just becomes insane! From experience, your opponent will want to kill this right away or it can start making a ridiculous board state.
Oh, look, another Lord…
Yet another card that pumps up your board! This brings the total to 16 lords in the deck. SIXTEEN LORDS! Imagine how big all your little tokens will become!!
Servo Production
Now we’re getting into the part of the deck that generates tokens, which is the most important thing. This card doesn’t look like much, besides a decent draft card, but getting 2 servos is pretty neat, even if you spent 4 mana for them, since they’ll big bigger than 1/1s in the end. And you can potentially get more than 2 if you have a Procession on the field.
More Servos
If 2 servos for 4cmc is alright, what about for 2cmc? This card is really good and becomes insane when you have a Procession & a lord on the field. Getting 4 or even 8 servos for 2cmc is crazy, and even crazier if those servos are 3/3s!
Even More Servos!!
Why stop at 2 servos? Here have 3 of them and just go ahead and cast a card for free on top of that. If you use this to cast an exhibition you’ll get 5 servos for 4cmc, or potentially 20 with a couple of Procession on the field. I mean, it wouldn’t be unusual to get 12 4/4 servos for 4cmc, which is fairly decent, no?
Hidden Tech
Okay, I lied, the deck isn’t Mono-White…you can easily splash black with some Spire of Industry or other lands like that for some Hidden Stockpile. This card is just way too good! You can easily get a constant mass of blockers that potentially grows because of your token doublers. Plus you get to generate some card advantage by sacrificing unwanted tokens and then replace them. This card just does it all!
Wrap-Up
That’s it for the deck tech! You could potentially change the list to be more of a tokens deck than a servo deck, with Gideons & Anointer Priests, but I like the servo feel to be honest. I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did. If I missed anything let me know. I’ll see you guys next week for a Modern deck tech!
