My last assignment after feedback below!
Defining client needs was a great class to receive good insight from regarding media design. This course helps you understand what types of processes, graphic designers go through, to create their masterpieces. It also helps you prepare for receiving, and giving critical reviews. The biggest take away from this course was the main project that focused on either three of these locations Kyoto, Japan, Marrakech, Morocco, and Reykjavik, Iceland.
I chose Kyoto, Japan for my research project. The goal was to come up with great sketches that reflected, Kyoto, Japans geography, culture, and traditions. After uploading my 75 sketches I received feedback from my peers. The feedback I received was, my sketches looked very well researched depicting the culture, geography, and traditions of Kyoto, Japan. This reflected my designing process which is shown in the first screenshot above. Some students also said they can confirm this by the eraser marks, representing me going back and analyzing in the end. Although my peers enjoyed viewing my sketches I should’ve went one step further and organized my ideas better.
The first day of logos consisted of more typography than pictures. One peer gave me the idea to try working with shapes to help block things out, and elevate my creative process. I plan to use this method in the future when sketching out ideas. In my last assignment I organized my sketches and they were definitely easier to view and comprehend. which also helped my mind stay organized when continuing to create. Great first month in the Media Design (Masters of Fine Arts) degree program at Full Sail University! Thanks Instructor McClung and my peers this month!!

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “graphic designers create visual concepts, using computer software or by hand, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate consumers. They develop the overall layout and production design for applications such as advertisements, brochures, magazines, and reports”. (bls.gov). My questions and concerns about the program that could impact my future success are the fact I’m not an artist. Though I’m creative and love art I only know how to draw a little, hoping it’s enough to convey my ideas. I haven’t taken a photoshop class that I comprehended since 2008. In that high-school class I used Adobe photoshop to create a 12-month calendar with different pictures of myself. I also video recorded a questionnaire around my school with a team, we then put the clips together in Windows Movie Maker application on a desktop and created our final product. Some key takeaways that will have the most impact on my experience as a graduate student are, understanding what I’m learning to enable me to create revenue and success for companies and myself. Another takeaway that will impact my experience as a graduate student would be learning to the best of my ability to graduate with the best GPA I can achieve, to feel proud of my accomplishments. As an innovator I want to enhance my ability to illustrate my ideas and thoughts into other forms people can see and relate to. My long-term goals as a professional media designer are to be able to create my company logo and brand package. I also want to be able to help my future artist of my label make their vision come to life in their themes for their music projects such as album/single covers, theme of tour campaigns, and other client needs outside of my own businesses. Sean Adams “What is graphic design” video, opens your mind to the responsibility and importance graphic designers have in the world. Changing the world by helping others succeed in selling their products and communicating their ideas.
