Well, less than two weeks until my MVD. Excited for the most part, a bit nervous though. Figure that is to be expected. Can’t wait to have my mvd
Surgery is a little over a month away. I see the surgeon to go over any questions and to see if he wants more imaging. So far pain has been okay. I do hate to say, but I have been having pain on my right side…..bilateral. My dr will be looking in to that. We’ve finally hit winter. It’s in the 30s now. Time to wear the face mask outside. If I don’t, the pain starts. Gotta keep it away until 12/17.

St. Louis weather is supposed to suck this week/weekend. We have a freeze watch in affect for friday night. Not cool. This rapid jump down in temperatures is gonna be the death of me. And to top it off, rain is involved. Not cool St. Louis! And then its back to warm for monday!

Well, I think I’m gonna go for it and have an MVD. Will probably do,it over my winter break. It’s the best chance I have at a better life with this disease. Going to schedule another consult with the surgeon to discuss this in more detail and schedule.

Pain pain pain
The shit hit the fan last night. Had the worst flare up so far. Ended up in the ER after the pain woke me up. They gave me a pain shot and sent me home. I slept it off. The shot has worn off and the pain has been off and on all night. Been using my heating pad a lot. Hate this. Trigeminal Neuralgia sucks. Honestly, I’m considering an MVD.

Updates from new pain specialist
Saw my new pain specialist today. That doctor is amazing! She has a good idea what is wrong with me and it’s not Trigeminal Neuralgia. It is another pain disorder called myosfasial pain syndrome. Essentially some of my muscles aren’t working right and that caused a bunch of stuff in my neck region to tweak out and it’s pulling on and compressing the nerves in the area causing the pain. I saw my family physician today and finally have some good feelings about how things are going for me. -he is starting me on an antidepressant called cymbalta to help me through the depression that chronic pain causes and it will also help with the nerve pain. -he knows the pain specialist I am going to see Wednesday and says he is great and on the cutting edge. It’s 12:43 pm here. Not feeling good at all. On top of the TN pain I have in the middle (v2) branch and lower (v3) branch, I have a major headache that is slowly inching into migraine e territory. First visit with my neurologist today. Great appointment. Still moving forward with the tests that were scheduled. For the TN, she is having me try vimpat. Lowest dose once a day.
