delphinathemermaid:
Delphina looked at the siren, her eyes widening as she realized just whom she was in the presence of. Her lips pressed together for a moment as she considered what the woman said. “I’ve been on land a year now.” She admitted carefully as she recognize the sort of nostalgic gaze in the woman’s eyes. “We ought to always take care yes,” she confirmed and looked down at her hands cautiously. “And that land walkers love to take, and use whatever they want. If they find something beautiful, they will try to own it.” Delphina shrugged keeping her gaze down.
Delphina pressed her lips together feeling reassured, she was a little surpirsed the woman was being so kind to her. “I do hope that is true,” she said quietly. “How long have you been on the surface?”
The mermaid seemed a little.. to bright and positive for Nimue. Her people had always been about the light and valued peace in ways her own had not. Their opposing sides had lead to animosity and warring nature between them in the sea. But on land there was no reason for them to be polar opposites. And while Nim didn’t think she’d ever share the view of a merperson, she didn’t see them as her enemies up here. “Well take it from someone who has been on land for decades. Yes, some of the tales you heard have merit, but mostly on land we are the superior species. If you know how to protect yourself, a human doesn’t stand a chance.” she thought the mermaid ought to be less afraid, then again it wasn’t her responsibility to make sure that she wasn’t. Without a motherly bone in her body, it didn’t come naturally to her. “Then you take back. No one can take shit from you unless you let them.” she deadpanned.
Eying the blonde she tried to decide if her words had made sense or made a difference. Simply because she wanted to know if it had been a waste of time to give without expecting anything back. “It is. My queen pisses at human hunters. She’s eradicated their lot countless times before.” Her voice calm with confidence. The question made Nim smile ruefully. “Since I was four years old. My dear old mother banished me and gave me to Kanopia.”
