The green hedgehog didn't say anything; he felt that nothing he'd say would cheer the other up. Instead, he had drapped his leather jacket over the darkling's shoulders and stayed by his side --- SCOURGE.

He was ..... exhausted. Mentally and emotionally. Sitting on a bench and just staring forward. Listening to the birds and the people walking by.

He flinched slightly at the sudden touch , quickly looking around before his eyes settled on the green hedgehog. Relaxing instantly.

..... Silence. But laying his head against his chest and closing his eyes.

As Eclipse relaxed and rested against Scourge, he brought an arm up to drape behind the other, and pulled him close. He continued to sit there in silence, trying to ignore how naked he felt without his jacket on before he broke the silence. "Ya feelin' alright? Seem kinda...Out of it, I guess."

The fox shook his head, finishing his cup and setting it onto the table. "If that is all you are taking out of my story, I don't have much to say anymore. I won't be interfering in your business and I expect the same from you."

"However, I will be observing you closely. Nothing personal. You understand." Prower pulled his hand back as if tugging onto an invisible string and the window slid open, letting some cold air into the room. "Now unless you have any more questions..."

His eye flashed, his stare now cold. "Don't 'preciate being spied on, so I'd advised you keep your nose turned one way, and I'll do the same." He looked towards the window leading to the grey outside. Steel looked at the fox one last time before heading towards the exit.

The mage waved at Steel dismissively. "That's not what I meant. I don't care if you stay around the guy or if you decide to fight the bastard to the death. I simply want to distance myself from that hot action." Prower huffed. "As much as I'd love to see his face pounded into dust, the last thing I need is him or you coming for me for causing a 'misunderstanding' or some shit."

"I am not an innocent party in this, of course. Each member of the Squad has done some horrible things we hardly regret. Scourge would still be here too if he didn't go off the rails like an idiot." The fox ranted with another sip of coffee.

"What I am getting at is." A finger was pointed at the hedgehog. "Don't put people on a pedestal. The moment you get close enough they will lose balance and fall off. If Scourge is a good ally, use him. If he outlives his usefulness... Well, now you have a valid reason to throw him away."

He stared intently at the fox before standing up once more. "If I did that, I'd be no better than Scourge. Yes, he's not the greatest guy on the planet, but he is the only one who can save us from something far worse." Steel stood up once more, popping the mint into his mouth.

"I don't care about you, nor your past. Heck, I don't care about anyone's past at this point. You're all messed up in your own ways. What I care about is now. And unless you interfere, you don't have to worry about me or Scourge."

The fox snapped his fingers and a paper bag with a pack of mints dropped into Steel's lap. "This is a very old carpet." He simply said, swiping his fingers to change the picture. "Impossible to properly restore."

The next picture showed the Suppression Squad battling desperately with a much bigger army of enermies. With each swipe, the amount of opponents rose. "Scourge waged a war on Moebius. They won't write about it in the history books, I doubt it. How one person and his Squad managed to take over the entire planet and forcefully rename it. Of course... Scourge didn't care enough to spare anyone. He was quite literally speedrunning it."

The mage paused for a short thought and adjusted his fingers. Now the ball seemed to be looking down at the battlefield, with bodies lying all over the ground. One second later, another one seemed to have fallen from nowhere... With a familiar green figure landing on top of it, grinding his heel into the head, making the face sink deeper into the bloody earth. Miles' shoulders sunk for a moment before he made another movement.

The next swipe revealed the Sunken Island, Scourge standing triumphantly over defeated O'Knux. "He succeded. In record time as well. That's when he decided it was time to confront Sonic. And, indeed... That was a mess." Prower swirled his finger over the ball, fast-forwarding the next few pictures, stopping at the one that showed Sonic taking Scourge away into the portal.

"If you confront him about it, I know he will say I betrayed him. Which... I did. But I don't regret aiding in his defeat." Yet again, the deep and cold blue eyes looked at Steel. "Would you, knowing what I do now?"

The teen jumped in his seat when the magical bag poofed out of no where and landed on his lap. He once again used his powers to pull the pack of mints out of the bag and set them on the table.

He still felt awful upon learning more of his boss' history. Things now really were not any better than it is in the future; the constant race for dominance and survival. The strong crushing the weak. It was how he grew up. How he had to grow up. It was...All Scourge's fault.

His eyes shot up, meeting with the fox's.

"Betray him? No, I-" He paused, remembering what he had said earlier. He'd protect this planet and the future no matter what. He frowned and sighed. With a simple gesture with his fingers, the pack of mints opened, and one piece floated up to his face.

"I suppose I'd have to, actually."

He sighed and closed his eyes, "Yeah? I ain't exactly a saint either. Not that I have a problem with that. I just don't want to end up owing anyone anything anymore." Scourge then sat up, stretching his arms high over his head.

... he was worried about him. and he knew opening up wasn't exactly something he did , no matter how much he wanted to ask. he had learned he had to be patient with the hedgehog , which was similar to himself. Perhaps that's why he worked so well with him.

" have you thought about speaking to Celios or something ? Maybe there's something he can do to ease the pain. At least a little bit. "

Using his palm , he carefully massaged along the other's spine , humming.

Scourge shuddered as the claw was gently grazed over his spine. "I dunno, babe. I barely know th' guy, so I doubt I could ask any favors. Besides," He turned his head so he could look at Eclipse, "How do I know it'd even work? I mean, this Shadow Khor stuff is nasty business. He probably likes ta think he's all powerful but...I dunno. I don't think there's any fix for this."

Miles watched the other with a slight smile on his face. He could see that Steel was frustrated, but knew better than to antagonize him. The fox simply waited until his 'guest' made himself comfortable and continued. "I don't blame you honestly: when I was a kid, Scourge was my hero, my savior. He helped me escape the nightmare that was my household."

The mage placed his fingers on top of the crystal ball resting on the nearby table. The ball emotted a glow and started showing pictures, seemingly from Miles' perspective.

First was a picture of the Suppression Squad, truimphantly celebrating in castle Acorn, still barely teens. "We weren't a good team and Scourge was, well, himself. Rude, arrogant, a brute. But we listened to him and all was well. For us, I mean. We were quite horrible to anyone we didn't like." Next was a picture of the crew absolutely destroying a house that eerily looked like a fortified hospital.

"But then time passed, things happened. And suddenly Scourge disappeared for a long while. Then he returned. And he was green. And he had... Someone with him." Now the ball was showing Scourge and Fiona stepping out of the portal.

"That's when it all went off the rails. Scourge became obsessed with making us look perfectly opposite to Sonic and his team. I was lucky enough to be able to choose my new style." Prower paused and the next picture seemed shaky, as if Miles was trembling heavily as he watched... A young coyote getting one of his eyes pulled out.

"Patch became an example because he was the first to retaliate. Next was Boomer. He was forced to completely modify his body. Though he seemed to enjoy that more." Prower paused and then sighed. "Next part is... Especially gruesome. Are you sure you are still on board?" He asked with concern. It wasn't hard to fake, his eyes seemed so full of deep sorrow and regret.

Miles was milking his story for all it was worth, selsctively omitting some of the more personal details.

　His focus shifted from Miles to the orb, watching as images shifted from one scene to another, his hands folded together in his lap. One of his thumbs rubbed over the other as his leg bounced, which only became faster when Scourge came through the portal with Fiona. What happened next, Steel was not prepared for.

His leg stopped as he processed what he was looking at exactly, then he winced. His stomach churned, threatening to expel its contents. His hands started to squeeze each other, his breath now shaky. He blinked and forced himself to look at the fox once more, "Yeah. I'm fine." He sat up straight in his chair and nodded, "Keep going."

The fox looked genuinely surprised at the other's words. However it lasted just a few moments before Miles bursted into stifled laughter. He was trying to hold himself back, but not too much, it seemed.

"Oh, that's so precious. I guess, he never changes." Prower leaned back in his armchair, still chuckling. "I will admit, perhaps you managed to meet a version of Scourge, who would never hurt a fly, but I highly doubt it. Every Scourge I've ever encountered was some sort of fucked up."

The mage threw one of his legs onto another and smiled with a cold look in his eyes, the one you would see a satisfied snake have after it had its meal. "Yes, Scourge is, in fact, a murderer. We have been a part of a team together for about half of my life. We bent this world to our will, though at that time, our adventures were much less violent, merely hooligan escapades. Things changed, however, when Scourge disappeared and then came back... Would you like to hear the rest? You can still leave. After all, I don't think you see me as a trustworthy source." Miles tilted his head at the hedgehog.

His lower eye twitched as the fox laughed and laughed. A torrent of emotions began to bubble inside of Steel, going from his stomach and burning in his throat. Disappointment but most important anger. Anger towards the other moebian, anger towards Scourge, but mostly anger towards himself. He had hoped beyond hope that he could save his future, but what if he couldn't? What if his home was doomed from the start?

No. He had come too far to give up now. His eyes darted to the side, now looking at the chair. Using his telekinetic powers, he pulled it back and sat down. "I...I should know more. If anyoneーeven Scourgeーposes a threat, I need to know how to stop them."

Miles wasn't making any specific movements. For the first time in a while he plucked out a person without much of a reason. Other than being bored and wanting to know someone else's perspective, that is. Though, if he could get this super-powered teen to work with him at some point, that would also be quite beneficial.

The chair that the hedgehog was teleported into was standing in front of the table with another cup steaming on it. The mage nodded at the frosted up window behind him. "If you would like to leave, feel free to. I only took the door away so you wouldn't run rampant around the castle. It's a private residence after all." Another calm sip. "Still, I understand your position. And I can respect it too. People believe that I want to enslave Moebius and return it to the life of servitude, however I only want to restore peace and order. I myself dislike needless violence."

There was no need to tell the hedgehog twice. He had spun on his heels to face the window, but paused. Something about the last sentence Miles had said struck a cord with him. Call him naïve, but he truly hoped that deep down there was someone who wanted peace.

He glanced back over his shoulder, a golden iris making contact with the other moebian.

"You really believe that?"

"You offend me." The fox pursed his lips. "Sensless slaughter was Scourge's ammo at some point, you know. He told you much about Fientuvius, but seems like that he forgot to disclose his own story."

"I never advocated for murder. I do have some blood on my hands, I admit, but none of it is innocent." Prower squinted, his icy blue eyes looking straight into the other's golden ones.

It was all too easy to see the look of dismay on Steel's face; his ears pinned back, a deep frown firming as his brows furrowed. When he had done his initial research into what he called the 'Blackout', he had come to the conclusion that Scourge's disappearance was linked to the world ending events. He didn't do an extensive background search on Scourge himself, nor did he care.

"I mean...I thought it was just a whole persona he put on. Just trying to be a tough guy in a tough world, y'know?" With the way his new boss held himself, Steel thought Scourge was just a wanna be mobster. "He's really a killer?"

Despite the green hedgehog groaning in protest, he laid his head down on the darkling's lap and sighed. "It's because of the stupid werehog thing." Scourge grumbled. The reality was that it had been much longer than three days since he had any sort of restful sleep. In his newfound form, his spine would twist, forcing him down onto his hands and walking on all fours like an animal. The pain made it uncomfortable for him to sleep. Even when he switches back to normal during the day, he could only afford himself a few hours of sleep here and there since some sort of danger always seemed to rear its ugly head.

His eyelids felt heavy as Scourge's body relaxed. He smirked and purred, "You've also kept me pretty busy."

There was a air of unease in the teen's posture; his eyes darted around, specially looking at any windows and doorways. Why had he been brought here exactly? Was the fox looking to antagonize him?

"This planet holds so much beauty, and it seems all anyone wants to do here is destroy it! Throw whatever label you want on himーI don't care. But I won't let anyone harm this world."
