I know this is going to make me sound pretensions but I have to get it off my chest. I feel an unimaginable rage when someone posts a photo and is like "this picture looks like a renaissance painting lol" when the photo clearly has the lighting, colors and composition of a baroque or romantic painting. There are differences in these styles and those differences are important and labeling every "classical" looking painting as renaissance is annoying and upsetting to me. And anytime I come across one of those posts I have to put down my phone and go take a walk because they make me so mad

This is a completely fair question to ask, but I don't really have an answer for you, anon.

I'm still trying to figure out gender shit right now. There are other sources on tumblr for your question (I'm on mobile and at work, I can't link any right now, but maybe when I get home).

The best I can say (and this is just for me, I'm not speaking for anyone else's identity), is that I know I don't want a gender assigned to me, so, I'm nonbinary. Also, I'm only attracted to women and some other nb people, so I'm a lesbian. Lesbian can mean attraction to women and nb people, because gender is messy.

If anyone has anything to add to this, cause I'm basically flying blind, feel free to comment it. Also, anon, if you want to message me, we can talk about it. It's hard to have a discussion like this.

I've gone through a lot of labels and my personal philosophy that developed from that is to pick the labels that make you happy. You don't have to logic out how something applies to you to accept that label for yourself. If it makes you happy to call yourself nonbinary and it makes you happy to call yourself a lesbian, be a nonbinary lesbian!! It's up to you if you want there to be a logic or reasoning behind it or if those are simply the terms you prefer!!

And if people want to go the hard finnicky road about definitions and specifics, ime most nonbinary people describe themselves and their gender differently. It's really up to the individual's experience how well they fit (a word used loosely) into the labels they use!
