Another instance of an alleged*, non-influential trans woman being used as a springboard to legitimize transandrophobia.
For context:
Tl;dr - trans man who enjoys and respects content made by 50-sub YouTube trans woman goes on her tumblr, determines she hates trans men, and decides to make a grievance post about it that garners thousands of upvotes on Reddit.
What's being said by the usual suspects:
Note the history of the r/trans unfolding on my timeline (it didn't "go up in flames"). Also note the mention of egg_irl and notice how these subs are being framed as being anti-trans men versus anarchy_chess who "went to hell and back to defend trans men."
And the legitimacy of misandry, which in this case is being used similar to how calling a white person a "cracker" is racist, is what's gaining traction. While this sentiment in isolation can be hand-waved away, this continued, widespread circulation of misandry to describe personal experiences of prejudice, which is no concession to the reality or legitimacy of the OP's claim, further entrenches its conceptual legitimacy in the minds of people who are not as tuned into the conversation around misogyny and transmisogyny especially.
Finally:
The resulting product of this conceptual legitimization of misandry: a plausbily legitimate, co-opted extension, culturally synthesized for trans men in the form of transandrophobia/misandry.
Addendum:
The cycle concludes. The trans woman is at once a misandrist, a transmisandrist, and a misogynist.
