for  REAL  though.....  i would have loved it if they expanded more on what EXACTLY you see when you go through the gate of truth?? i know you can see like figments of the past and future but... can you also see things that are not related to yourself like the birth of the universe, parallel universes, if there is something beyond the universe, if heaven & hell exist... maybe you do see them but the human mind cannot grasp these concepts? or maybe if you saw too much you would either forget like al did because it traumatizes you, or because you’ve seen so much your mind... breaks.

if  you  read  my  bio  page  you  will  have  noticed  that  i  write  ed  as  nonbinary.  the  reason  for  this  is  simple :    no  one  sees  the  truth  /  god  three  times  and  still  believes  in  the  gender  binary  ,  among  other  things  ,  such  as  social  issues  ( racism , homophobia etc )  and  a  limited  universe  ( i’m  refering  to  other  dimensions  but  i  don’t  know  how  to  phrase  it  better ).

he’s  not  aware  of  the  term  in  any  way  because  the  20th  century  wasn’t  #woke  about  the  T  in  LGBT  ,  but  he  acknowleges  that  the  gender  binary  comes  with  ridiculous  sets  of  stereotypes  and  behaviours  ,  which  give  birth  to  sexism  &  mysogyny.  he  doesn’t  believe  in  acting  /  looking  like  the  socially  constructed  idea  of  men.  he  doesn’t  refrain  from  crying  because  he’s  a  #manlyMan  ,  but  because  he  wants  to  be  strong  for  al.  he  doesn’t  want  al  or  winry  to  see  him  suffering  when  they  already  know  that  he  is.  all  in  all  ,  ed  really  doesn’t  support  toxic  masculinity.

when  he’s  told  he  is  a  man  and  that  he  should  act  like  one  ,  his  response  is  i’m  human  and  i’m  acting  like  one.  he  often  ponders  on  the  vastness  of  existence  and  how  the  concepts  created  by  humans  limit  them  more  than  help  them.  he  still  refers  to  himself  as  boy / man  but  his  gender  identity  would  be  nonbinary.

                  she corrects him, fingers tightening around the wrench in her hand. as per usual she was itching to throw it at him, but she needed it for the time being.

ALTHOUGH  UNSPOKEN  ,     guilt  fills  ed’s  gut  when  his  absent  involvement  in  winry’s  and  minako’s  lives  is  brought  up.  what  could  he  tell  them ?  we’re  not  dead  yet ?  he  swallows  the  feeling  even  as  his  gaze  remains  fixed  on  the  ceiling  and  distant  for  a  brief  moment  before  he  cracks  a  teasing  smile  ,  tone  of  voice  lower  than  before.  it  is  an  attempt  to  distract  winry.

‘  yeah ,  yeah.  but  you  wouldn’t  be  able  to  practice  on  automail  so  often  if  it  weren’t  for  me  breaking  it  every  five  months---  ’
