I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang is a very good film and a strong example of how Hollywood films tackled social issues in the pre-Code era.

EXTRA INFO:
The Bill hasn't passed yet; however it is very likely. Turkey just shut down the social media accounts of LGBT+ organizations, and quietly banned/"made not possible to see" multiple dating apps for LGBT people such as Taimi. These are small steps leading up to this. Just less than a year ago the distribution of Estrogen was made ten times harder and hormone replacement therapy laws upped the transitioning age from 18 to 21. Please speak for us.

Tales from the Crypt: Season 5 (1993)
This is a solid season that allows for some memorable twists and amusing performances. The stories are generally compelling and keep up with the series' dark humor, although some episodes like Came the Dawn and Till Death Do We Part feel a bit too abrupt in plotting (and the former doing a repetition of the cross-dressing killer trope makes the story's end less satisfying). The season features some of the most gruesome moments in the series so far and the bigger comedy moments clash with these scenes well. The characters are given some satisfying arcs that work with the series' structure. The Crypt Keeper remains fun to watch and the more elaborate segments help each episode stand out. The performances are very good overall with great guest turns from Tim Curry, Steve Buscemi, Bill Paxton, Brad Dourif, Billy Zane, Clancy Brown, Ed Begley Jr., Michael Lerner, Sam Waterson, Roger Daltrey, Eileen Brennan, Joan Chen, Martin Sheen, Ernie Hudson, Wil Wheaton, Brooke Shields, Kevin Dillon, Priscilla Presley, Meredith Salenger, Anthony Michael Hall, Cheech Marin, Adam West, Charles Martin Smith, Robert Picardo, Lou Diamond Phillips, Alan Ruck, Rory Calhoun, Michael J. Pollard and Yvonne De Carlo. There is great work from returning directors like Gilbert Adler, Gary Fleder, Russell Mulcahy and Elliot Silverstein while having solid new work from Gregory Widen, Uli Edel, Bob Gale, and Kyle MacLachlan. The series keeps the strong visual identity and the more stylized presentation that fits with the series' comic book tone. The effects work is at its best here with more elaborate make-up work and gore effects that hold up very well. The various composers provide some nice themes that work with the series' style.

Tales from the Crypt: Till Death Do We Part (1993)
Transphobia is about to be signed into law in the UK. We can fight this.
I am begging the UK trans community and its allies to attend the Mass Lobby at Parliament on June 25th, 11am-4pm, organised by Trans Solidarity Alliance.
Last year we broke the record for an LGBT+ mass lobby of Parliament. Will you help us break it again? Join us on 25th June 2026 to demand be
The new EHRC Code of Practice pushes trans people out of toilets, hospital wards, and community spaces. It normalises gender policing based on appearance and stereotypes. It becomes statutory guidance in the UK by the end of June.
Trans people are now legally their assigned gender at birth and must join gendered spaces accordingly, but if they are perceived as their lived gender, they can also be ejected from those spaces. The guidance says: either break the law, or don’t pass too well.
A mass lobby is where you invite your MP to discuss your concerns with you in-person. Ask your MP to:
Demand full parliamentary scrutiny, debate, and use their free vote on the EHRC Code of Practice.
Support any motions rejecting the EHRC guidance. As of June 4th, Labour MP Nadia Whittome has submitted a prayer motion - Early Day Motion 240.
Write to Bridget Phillipson, the Minister for Women and Equalities about our concerns
Your MP does not have to be an ally, they do not have to respond to your email for you to show up and greencard them (details below the cut.) What matters is that as many people as possible show up.
I cannot stress this enough: Showing up in person matters. It is much more effective than petitions, emails, and letters.
It is a horrible, stressful time, and I am so sorry if you're trans and live in the UK. But I was at last year's mass lobby and the line for greencarding alone stretched around the back gates. It was a record breaking mass lobby and made us impossible to ignore. Let's do even better this time. Details under the cut:
