Matt’s body language is so coy. He is dealing with this challenge and has to charm people to convince them that he can cope.

It’s not a hard formula: you just have to eat right, drink a lot of water, get a lot of sleep. I live like a monk — I go home, read a lot. And I work out — about six weeks before a stage show. In my head, it’s like I’m going into Olympic training. I don’t like to miss shows, I like to be healthy. I mean, you can go out, you can party, and you’d probably just about get through the show, but one of the worst feelings in the world for me is being onstage in front of people, and even if they don’t know different because they’ve never seen it before, if I feel like I’m not giving 100 percent I’m mortified with myself. Maybe that’s just my obsessive perfectionist brain, but I really don’t like to just shuffle through things. - Aaron Tveit for The Times, 2014

#5 with Aaron at home!
“You’ve been crying, haven’t you?”
The ride home had been eerily quiet, but neither of you had anything left to say. Your relationship had been rocky for the past couple months and you both thought that going out and having a nice dinner, a time where the both of you could just be together and remind yourselves why you loved each other, would help fix things, but it ended up being full of regret and disappointment. Aaron didn’t even bother getting out of the car when he pulled into the driveway. He let you get out and drove off, leaving you standing there in the cold, wondering if he’d return. You scoffed and turned to head inside. You tossed your shoes to the side and stomped up the stairs to change out of your dress. You were growing apart and you didn’t know how to feel about it. You were angry and sad and confused and sometimes you felt like you wouldn’t care if you both just ended it. What was the point of being together if you didn’t make each other happy anymore? But a larger part of you still wanted to fight, you just weren’t sure if he did too. It made you incredibly sad. What if he didn’t want to fight? What if he was feeling trapped and didn’t know how to express his feelings the way he wanted to? He didn’t want to hurt you but didn’t realize that that was exactly what he was doing? You put your hands over your face in an attempt to get you to stop thinking about it. You could feel your throat starting to tighten up as your eyes began to burn, tears slowly sliding down your cheeks.

Hearing noises coming from the front, Aaron had finally come back. He had been gone for hours, which just made you think that this was it. He had spent that time figuring out how he was going to break up with you. You suddenly felt nervous as you heard him coming up the stairs, like you didn’t know him. Quickly you sat up and allowed your feet to touch the floor, not knowing what to do with yourself, so you just stared at the ground.
He walked in the bedroom, not saying a word. “Where were you?” You finally asked, surprised you were even able to speak. “I went for a drive.” His reply was short. “For four hours?” “Yes.” There was sharp irritation in his voice and it was only then that you both made eye contact. “You’ve been crying, haven’t you?” His tone was different now and it caused you to look away. Your face felt puffy and tight from the damp tears that now stained your cheeks. He eventually turned away and started to unbutton his shirt and loosen his tie. Was it just going to be like this now, where neither of you wanted to be the first one to say anything? You couldn’t take the silence anymore and emotions flew out of you like word vomit. “You know, I’d really like to know where we’re at right now, because if we’re wasting our time, I don’t see any point in continuing on like this. I thought tonight was supposed to be us trying to work out our shit, but you seem distracted and uninterested and I don’t know what I’m supposed to do-” “I’m the one distracted and uninterested?” He turned to face you again, confusion and anger spewing out of him. “You barely said two words to me tonight, so I’m sorry if I gave off mixed signals.” You scoffed. This wasn’t going the way you had intended it to. It was typical, though, you both couldn’t manage to talk about anything without an argument breaking out. “I’m just tired of this. I’m tired of all the fighting and the hateful words and the tension. I miss us. Don’t you?” Your mood changed, you felt defeated. You didn’t want this to be the end, but you weren’t sure where his head was at. “I need to know what you want to do. Are we quitting this or do you think we can try and salvage what’s left?” He was quiet for what seemed like forever. You could tell he was thinking about it. He pulled his tie off his shoulders and tossed it on the bed before letting out a sigh. “Of course I do. I hate fighting with you all the time. I don’t… know what’s changed, but I do want to try and fix it. Work on communicating more.” It felt like it had been years since you had smiled, but you could feel one peeking at the corners of your mouth. You let out a quiet sigh of relief and nodded. “Okay..” You whispered. “I do, too.” You stood up from the bed and walked over to him, placing your hands gently on his shoulders. “I think we’re already off to a great start, we actually agree on something.” Your smile grew bigger. He let out a laugh and rolled his eyes before taking you by the waste and pulling you in for a tight hug, burying his face in your neck. Your arms went around his neck and you hugged him tightly, not realizing exactly just how much you missed being that close to him. You were happy that you were both still willing to make things work. He was your endgame.

Fandom: Graceland
Pairing: Mike/Paige
Timeframe: Early Season 2
Warning: Slight use of language
A/N: Based on this prompt.
“It’s too damn hot,” Paige complained in an exaggeratedly deep voice, her features schooled into a scowl.
Mike shook with silent laughter at her impression, forcing him to grip the handle of the open refrigerator door for support. “Okay, that did sound like Jakes,” he said when he had calmed down.

PIKE prompt: Mike and Paige awkward run in with Abby while out on a date??
Notes: Sorry this took forever! Hope you like it. Any errors are my own. Takes place during S2 with references to Mike/Jess and to this scene. The movie Mike is thinking of is The Graduate, which I have not seen in its entirety, but there is a famous scene in it where a young man (played by Dustin Hoffman) asks an older woman if she’s trying to seduce him.
Two days after Mike admitted to Paige that his feelings for her had prevented him from sleeping with Jess, his housemate cornered him when they were alone in the kitchen after breakfast.
“We’re going on a date,” she announced. “Dinner. Tonight. I already made a reservation at a nice place, so dress up.”
“What about the case?”
“We still need to eat.”
“That’s true.” He spoke lightly, but it was only when Paige swatted his behind with the dishtowel and laughed in response that he knew that things were okay between them.
