How did I watch Shaun of The Dead so many times and never realize Shaun is more scared of Pete before he realize Pete is a zombie? Pete acting this aggressive doesn’t seem to register as weird to Shaun until he notice Pete’s eyes and then it’s almost like he calms down a bit.

Their overall interactions reminds me way too much of someone living in an abusive household with Shaun constantly adjusting to Pete’s moods. Pete is angry, Shaun is covering. Pete acts happy, Shaun mirrors him. When Pete tells Ed to do stuff around the house with Shaun wincing in the background, hoo boy does that bring back some childhood memories of watching my dad acting calm but boiling with anger and my cousins not understanding the severity of the situation while my brother and I feel the tension.

If not for the fact that Ed unofficially lives in the house too I’d have thought Pete wasn’t just being emotionally abusive but actually beat Shaun. I’m assuming Ed would stop it, though knowing Shaun he would probably do the classic “He was just in a bad mood” excuse and ask Ed to just ignore it, and Ed going along with it because he needs a place to stay but being extremely antagonistic towards Pete, not understanding he’s just making things worse for Shaun.

We do see that Pete can get violent when he almost attacks Ed, so Shaun might have seen Pete do something horrible in the past and thought “I don’t want to be on the wrong end of that”

But yeah, I didn’t even consider that Shaun might be in a super fucked up situation where he’s stuck between a violent housemate and a slob of a friend who loves him but is making his situation more dangerous.

For a while, I was wondering where the aroace Grace idea came from to get so popular. But now I've seen the flashback in the book where basically half of it dedicated to Grace questioning why Dr. DuBois and Dr. Shapiro are talking about their sexual relationship, and especially why they're telling him some details. Yeah, I get it now. I already liked the aroace Grace headcanon, but I see where everyone got it from now.
